The Difference Between Pentium M 735 and Pentium Centrino 1.5Ghz

First of all, Centrino is a collection of three things; a processor (Pentium-M), a chipset (855GME), and a mini-pci wireless card (2100 Wireless-B or 2200 Wireless-B/G)

Secondly, Intel is taking a page out of AMD's book and is switching to a numbered system of naming their processors. So now when someone talks about a Pentium M 725, you know it isnt as good as a Pentium M 735.

Stats:
Pentium-M 735 (Dothan)
.. Speed: 1.70Ghz
.. L2 Cache: 2MB
.. FSB: 400 Mhz

Pentium-M 705 (Banias)
.. Speed: 1.50Ghz
.. L2 Cache: 1MB
.. FSB: 400Mhz

The Bottom Line: The Pentium-M 735 (1.7Ghz Dothan) is much better than the Pentium-M 705 (1.5Ghz Banias) because it is faster and has twice the amount of L2 Cache.

I thought there is also a 1.5Ghz Dothan Pentium M version.

Also, Centrino debuted w/ Celeron. Pentium M came later and replaced Celeron in the Centrino scheme.
