Well i got my computer back today... and they didnt replace my video card like they said they were going too. They thought my problem wasnt the faulty card, but the drivers and bios that i already updated. So they sent it back, and i turned it on, and it still didnt work. Well i call them back and guess what. While it was shipping, a new version of bios comes out that fixes my problem. It seems that my trip to the depot was a waste of time. Im gonna tell ya the truth, im a little unhappy, but at least my computer works now.

What was the original reason your machine was sent in for repairs?

I think he said it was the video card.

James,
You want vague... this is the description on the 1.19 bios fix, "This update fixes a pixelation issue with the NVIDIA GeForce FX Go 5700"
What is the definition of a pixelation issue?

My 5700 was experiencing difficulties and crashing my system after a small amount of use. Sometimes, random pixels would flash random colors at certain parts of the screen, making lines. I guess this is pixelation. my problem hasnt been completely solved though. I still think i have a faulty card. I got alot of work to do lately, so i think im gonna keep it for a while and look into it more.

Go ahead and PM your account information. I can pull up notes on what was done with the system.

Mike, you had the same problem as me right with the orange ghost effect right? Let me know how if the replacement card works, maybe instead of waiting for a LCD replacement maybe a new video card would do it.

no, i didnt have the ghosting problem. My problem just involved the computer freezing during 3Dmark03 and 3Dmark05 tests. And after i was actually able to complete both these tests once, they scores so low for my computer it is rediculous.
03 scored about a 2000
05 score about 400 (only got it to make it that far once)
I can only hope that i wont have this problem with the Nvidia card again and that the thing was just defective, not a compatability issue. I dont really want to spend another 2 hours on the phone with AW, lol.
ive seen your ghosting effect and i dont believe i have seen that

Ok, I couldn't remember if yoursd had that or not.

I made the same mistake, my laptop was in for almost two months and to tell you the truth i am a little pissed with alienware, first the 9700 let down now the 5700 is having problems, they should have done more R & D work with the user upgradeable graphics card....................... but all in AW is still the best company i have even bought from
