3970 Fan under A/C Power

What's everyone's fan like while under A/C power and NOT gaming. I still think that I may have a fan issue because my wife's 3970 does not behave like mine does.

Comments?

Well.. you're lacking specifics here, I would have to say. How does your wife's 3790 behave compared to yours?

The last time I plugged it and ran it on "on forever" setting, the fan turns on constantly.

That's the odd thing. The ONLY difference between my wife's and mine is that she has the 12-cell battery. Other than that, they are identical.

Now, her fan pauses for 5 to 8 minutes then turns on for about 60 to 70 seconds or so. Mine is the opposite, it runs for 60 or 70 seconds or so and pauses for about 10 seconds, then cycles again. I can't figure it out. I will say that my palm rests are defiantly MUCH cooler than hers....maybe her lappy's fan isn't working correctly?

have a 12 cells, the fan runs few seconds then stop for 5-6 minutes or so.
when on a game, the cpu cooler has 2 speed and go from slow to fast.and the bootom becomes really warm.

I haven't played any games yet, but when I am reading the forums, the fan doesn't come on. I can hear the little cpu fan (I think thats the one) The bigger one for HD (?) goes on when I am loading drivers or heavey surfing and then it does go on and off periodically. Not like yours though. I would contact your vender and let them know what is happening. Maybe they will suggest something or you will have to send it back.

perhaps the rear raise produced by the 12 cell is actually beneficial
