Random question about the 8890 internal wireless

For anyone who has opened up their systems and actually looked at their internal wireless (or installed it themselves, as I did) - does yours have that orange colored plastic wrap around the module? It was on there when I got mine in, so I figured it was some sort of protective shielding and left it on. Is it supposed to come off?

I only ask because my reception never seems to break "Very Good" (except on rare occasions where it will tag "excellent" for a few seconds); I thought this might be causing some interference, and was wondering if I was suppose to remove it. It only wraps around a certain area of the module, and looks to be heat-sealed to the module itself.

Thanks,

This deserves a bump because I'm curious too. Though I've never seen the wireless card itself, my reception has never been too good.

I don't have great reception either, I doubt it's the plastic though as RF should go through such materials with ease, and the antenna is supposed to go around the chassis. I suspect it may just be the card itself isn't that great.

I get great reception and yeah, that orange plastic stuff IS on mine too - has been from the start. The antenna goes around the screen, so my guess is that the connection isn't completely in. Try making sure the antenna wire's plugged in all the way.
