Microsoft just announced 22 new security flaws in their products, several of which are for Internet Explorer. In light of this and the slew of other IE vulnerabilities, I thought I'd ask what browser do you use?

Currently I'm using FireFox 1.0PR and its working great. The only thing I use IE for now is Windows Update.

I saw that report, too. I tried Firefox 1.0 and have been using it exclusively for about a week. I'm very impressed with it, especially its pop-up blocking capabilities. I think I've seen 1 or 2 pop-ups, at most, since installing Firefox, last Saturday. I typically got 10-15 pop-ups during just 15-20 minutes with IE...and that's with a third-party pop-up blocker running. I also like the way Firefox easily imported all of my IE bookmarks and settings.

Ive been using IE for everything except for one site which keeps crashing, then I use Firefox.

IMO, if you use IE and know how to use it probably, it will be the greatest thing to experience.
I use it for most of web application and nothing can beat it

What do you mean by use it properly? (I might not be, but we'll see)...

Any difference between Windows Update and Automatic Updates? (Why not just go auto.)

I find that auto-update can be a little glitchy, esp. over dial-up (only option right now; stone-age phone company and no cable!). That's why I use IE for Windows Update. And it also lets you see Recommended Updates that auto-update won't show. I wish MS would stop locking other browsers out of Windows Update though.

I've been using IE with SP2 and have no problems at all. I disabled a few options and works perfectly.

Let's sue MS!

An optimized build of Firefox with a few handy plugins (TextToImage, Linkification, and the All-In-One Gestures pack). Very fun.

Why bother getting it to work when browsers like firefox are more secure and have more features/functionality right from the start?

I like IE even without service pack 2. My awesome anti virus Common Sense 1.4 (new updated version just came out!) I havent got a virus in about 3 years, and thats when common sense was in its beta stages.

More functionality including the improper rendering of many sites on the net?

I use Avant Browser (basically an IE skin which adds features like tabbed browsing) and SP2. Between Avant's and SP2s pop-up blocking, I never see them unless I specifically allow them on a site. Add in a nice HOSTS file and blackholeproxy to block all the known ad servers, and there's rarely banners on any pages, as well.

I tried Firefox for a few weeks this past spring, and it wasn't all the MS bashers say it is, IMO. It crashed on several pages that I visit contantly, rendered the rest of the pages horribly, and the plugin stuff with it was attrocious. But, if you like it and think that's better than using IE, more power to you.

I am sorry, but I feel Firefox beats the pants off of IE. I have been in tabbed browsing since 2000 and I am never going back. Its really cool when you can download one browser, install it, and get everything I really want like tabbed browsing, a built-in search bar, a clean and minimalist interface, etc. I also find it real easy to add functionality to it with extensions. Sure it cant render ALL the web pages on the web properly, but the only page that does not run on Firefox properly is my university's email system, and I dont use that anymore.

However I cant completely knock IE. Its still my default browser and still a good backup to Firefox.

BTW ... has anyone every used Opera?

Doesn't anyone use Opera?

Firefox through and through. It's such a kick ass browser.

I started using Opera back in 2000 all the way until Firefox (then called Firebird) got popular. I stopped using IE for everyday surfing back in 2000, and never looked back.

Its too bad that the newer Opera now seems to be a memory hog and bloatware.

I used to use Opera (even bought it from version 2 through 7 or something... ever other version was free upgrade). Since about Firebird 0.7, though, I've been on the mozilla band wagon.

I don't bash MS or Moz or Opera, but Firefox 1.0 is pure sweetness. The coolest thing I like is the YELLOW background for the address bar when on a secure site! What a great idea! It's like a paperclip... not much, but man it sure makes life's trivial tasks much easier!

I use IE if I have to update Windows or visit a MS-only site (i.e. the one's that IE fans claim are "broken" by compliant browsers such as Opera and Firefox).

Use whatever you want, I chose Firefox; and I chose it for my workplace browser. Small businesses cannot afford MS-vulerability downtimes and patching. At least the one I work for cannot.

Nothing beats Firefox's security.

Started using it this past spring, Noia 2.0(Extreme). Shame I didn't find it earlier. Haven't looked back... well until this term at my University... they use only IE compatible email systems, just like a previous poster stated, which really sux.
