NP3790, how loud is it?

Greetings, this is my first post so don't flame me too badly

The Sager NP3790 looks like the perfect laptop for my needs but I have one question that I need to ask people who own it . . .

How loud is it? Does the fan sound liek a lawnmower after it's been running a while or does it stay quiet? The reason I ask is PC-based audio recording is hobby/side business of mine and I have my desktop PCs whisper quiet. I'm looking for the same in any laptop that I own.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

As long as you keep it cool, and dont run it at the full 1.7Ghz all the time it's pretty much silent. When you ramp up the speed and it gets hot, all the fans kick on and its not silent anymore but I've heard much much louder laptops in my days.

Edit: Obviously it doesn't have to be 1.7Ghz. I just put that because thats what my CPU is.

Ive been installing stuff on mine all night, so its heating up pretty well. The fans come on every 20-30 minutes and run for maybe 30-45 seconds. You can hear them come on, but it is a very soft whir. Not intrusive at all.

What can be done to keep a laptop cool when it is running hard? Are there special Heat-sinks or silent replacement fans like there are for Desktop PCs?

You can get these USB powered pads to sit your computer on that pump air into it to help cool it off. They use fans, but the ones I've used are very quiet. Or you could do what one of the members of this forum did (I forget which one) and route an A/C duct into the air intake of the laptop (a little overkill, but definitely 1337).

I had the fans die in my old Toshiba lappy (only for a month or so, 'til they suddenly started working again). Couldn't use it for long since it was a hot running DTR. I ended up using the low wall mounted hotel a/c units sometimes to blow frigid air into the rear vent. Crazy, but it worked.

The notebook coolers work pretty well. Some are quieter than others though.
