i would also like to know how this works...is it still internal??? I sure hope so...maybe it's like the mini-pci cards but it just taps into the Serial bus instead?

well, i did some searching on the web. they are external and look to be the size of a thumb drive (usb drive that goes on a keychain)

I was wondering about those mini-USB things meself. Will they work with Linux? Will PC Torque still have the option of getting an 802.11g PC Card NIC instead?

Not sure about linux. I am doing some searching on it.

using a external device for a laptop would be kind of silly, i think this is the device that the new models would be using and not external.

What does that module do? Is it an internal module that plugs into the USB bus? I don't get it...

think so, looks like it goes into usb

A "Mini-USB" device is an EXTERNAL device, which is unfortunate considering how much stuff I already carry around with my notebook computer.

I'd recommend anyone considering the "Mini-USB" external, give a harder look at a PCMCIA/CARDBUS solution.

The Mini-USB devices are Internal and currently used in the 4060 and 4760.

Thanks for the "clarification". =) I was wondering if the bluetooth module and 802.11a/g mini-usb module are mutually exclusive options or if we can have both together on the 8890?

Sorry Adam but I keep asking questions about this wireless stuff. I will be purchasing 4760 in August at least when it is equal to the 8890? My question about wireless is this, this little module replace the Lynksis product that is the option on the ordering page, except the access point. So then we don't need a Wlan card in that case, am I correct. If I am wrong can you please explain how this wireless integration works and possibly how it fits with the 4760. Sorry if my question is confusing but thats exactly how I feel about this wireless connections.

Anyone else that can offer some info will be greatly appreciated, and sorry if my question offends anyone.

Well there ya have it folks

Now does anyone know if they are USB 2 internal or USB 1.1, cause if they are USB 1.1 there is no point in getting 802.11g if it is offered in that form, cause then the USB bus would limit it to 12mbps (megabits).

The wireless PCMCIA card sticks out the side of the laptop and does not use the antenna built into the laptop. The internal one uses the antenna that runs through the laptop chassis. Both will work with the Linksys access point/router WRT54G that we offer with it.

So what is the advantage of having a mini-usb as apposed to mini-pci? Is the mini-usb wireless card software upgradeable?

I'm curious about this as well. Does anybody know if the internal wireless NIC card is USB 2 or USB 1.1? And if it is 1.1 then would I be better off getting an 802.11g PC-Card NIC?

I think I read somewhere that 5670 and 8887 only have one USB hub. If this is true for the 5680 and 8890, then would it really matter even if the mini-usb wireless adapter was USB 2? If you plug any USB 1 device into the computer, then everything drops to USB 1 speed.
