Using Laptop in bed and stands

Thread Starter
Anyone else like beside me enjoy surfing/playing games in bed latenight?

Certainly beats playing at the desk thats for sure.

But one problem is that supporting the laptop for a long time can be uncomfortable.

I've been searching around and this is the best i've found so far

http://www.lapgenie.com/

but it's damn expensive.

I was hoping for something cheaper or plans so i can build my own.

Thanks for any input.

The only problem I have is the fact that my lap gets very HOT near the cooling fans.

As for laying back in bed, I don't think that thing would be very practical, but the kid with milk and cookies is amusing.

How about using one of those cooling mats such as the Antec one?

Is it possible to play a FPS game such as Doom 3 whilst sitting on a bed/sofa? Havent got an optical mouse for my notebook yet wondered if its feasible or not.

Sitting on a bed... laptop on my *gasp* lap.... i can't...
But I play Doom3 and CS:Source while laying on my belly, laptop on the bed. My logitech M700 works really well on the bed sheets I own...

I use a large cutting board. It works great, enough room for my mouse too.

Im a big fan of laptop comfort. I got a tv thats up high on a ceiling mount above my bed; nice addition to the convienance of the laptop that Ill occasionally work on while resting in bed. Pretty much anywhere I take it, even school, I gotta make sure my legs are level with the floor. Keeps circulation going. Right now Im sitting in a couch-end chair with an ottoman holding my legs and lappy on my lap. Maximum comfort is key.

that airdesk thingy looks a good idea, pity we have nothing like it over here...

What I do is I sit up in bed (to a certain extent), with my legs at a 45 degree angle the the bed. The laptop goes on the legs, the laptop's LCD almost in line with the keyboard (Almost fully open).

Since there's a douvée on top of me, it insulates me from the heat. It's reasonably comfortable.

Just make something--some wood, a couple screws, some foam, some vinyl and glue.

Whoa, nice thread resurrect!

I personally use a drawing pad and a pillow to prop up my laptop in bed for long periods of websurfing or watching a movie. Nothing fancy, but it works and it's essentially free.

Well, speaking of breakfast trays and pillows, you can get this for about $15 for those of us without breakfast trays..

I bought a good laptop stand from them and they have most of the brands starting from $18 to $90. Check them out www.laptopstand.org

I am guilty of using notebook in bed. I have a large Monet book I use as a platform. Book costs more than many real trays but I already had.
