i've been having some wacky video problems the last few weeks. it all started with dx9. it didn't want to play nice with my 5660, so i reverted to a previous system restore point before i put dx9 on my laptop. this seemed to cure the problems i was having with dx9 (mainly, games crashing as soon as they started). but my screen seemed "stuck" on 1600x1200 rez in openGL and dx games. i could change the game rez, but it only made the game window smaller on my screen, i.e. the games weren't scaling to fit fullscreen. i also started noticing that after playing for a while (sometimes 15 mintues, sometimes 2 or 3 hours) i would start getting multicolored, polygonal "snow" on my screen.
today i installed the latest drivers from sager's website, and the scaling problem is gone (although i had started to get used to it, and now i think it looked better, lol) but i still get the random rainbow "snow" (i can't think of any other word to describe it, it's like very small portions of the triangles in the game just change to a random color and back again, but at the rate of about 50-100 per frame).
anybody have any ideas? i really dread having to reinstall windows, i always seem to lose data when i have to reinstall, and it's a real pain.
