Goodbye Liebermann | Update: Go-L Making a Comeback? - Page 4

What the... okay, I had to go back and double check the beginning of the thread. Um... Go-L went OUT of business. You cant buy any of thier stuff! Theyre gone, vamoose! I am missing the point of the evolving flame war here

Spro- I think why people didnt like Go-L, is that they would make up wierd terms for technology, overhype stuff that was just... sagers, from what I could see. They were so deceptively confusing, it was hard to come out and say they were lying about specs, although they got caught doing that on a few points. Made the laptops looks like they had more horsepower than they were truly capable of, barebones.

For awhile, every other day kids would pop in here asking about go-l, if they were too good to be true. They claim to do alot of business, meddude is the only forum member that bought from em. And he got- a sager with a rock on it. Nothing wrong with that, but it was pricey, and they promised stuff it couldnt do. Its a big case of overhyping and misleading advertising.

They took alot of thier site down, it would seem, so its hard to hyperlink some examples here. The thing is, I think some other members tore em up on thier fudged specs, contacted go-l to correct them, and .... shoot, dig through the archives, I think theres some thread about that. Go-l had a rep in here even, thats linked from the beginning of this thread.

I digress. My point is- you cant buy from em now, even if you wanted. So whats the argument? There are too many other truthful and reliable places to do business, Go-L ust had way too many complaints for me to touch em.

My 2 cents

And no- I have no hard proof beyond other members testimony here. Which I gladly take over shadily written specs...

Ok this might sound silly. But why would someone risk 3k of their money if there is even the slightest chance of scam, fraud..over paying for something you can get alot cheaper? Im sorry, no companies rep is worth my money. They don't pay a single dime of my bills nor are they going to knock themselves out to save my rep. Im not going to say hey there's no proof here's my 3k prove me wrong.

Scam, yes the scam when they told the guy on here that bought one of their laptops that the cam(I believe it was) was a 125 dollar option. However, that part came standard on the Sagers..it wasn't an option. Guess what, he decided he didn't want the came..so to cover their tracks..they told him they were giving the cam to him free lol Fraud...they tried to cheat him out of 125 bucks for a part that already comes standard. They removed that from their site after several people wrote them letters telling them about themselves..

GO-L Is either selling rebadge Sagers or Clevo's.. The only thing different from Sager and GO is the BS hype they splatter on their website then charge twice as much for after your convinced they invented it.

Gullible. Only the gullible uninformed consumer would even think to risk their money with them. That is what these boards is for. Experience, knowledge and to educate. If not for these boards, many would not know that GO-l /Sager/Voodoo etc are all the same machine. Invent.. Go-l Didn't invent the hollywood, Clevo did.. The only thing anyone was paying for with go-l is their fancy snake oil speeches about tech they did not invent nor have the optimized it any better then say voodoo or Sager..

I have already stated that they were a bad company, that had bad advertisment. But not a scam in the original sense. And I never backed up that statment, gosh, don't you read my comments at all? And no, i have never endorsed them.

Let me make this clear
1. I have neever endorsed or supported them.
2. They overhype their products.
3. They are not 100% out of buisness as to my knowledge they haven't filed for bankruptcy or completely closed their doors yet.
4. They overcharge their products.
5. They are guilty of false-advertisement.
6. The reasons IMO no one has sued them is because the only people that bought comps from them where the people that had little knowledge of them.
7. They are not a scam because you DID/Would Recieve a product. Just not as advertised.
8. They are re-branded sagers, with possible perfomance increases.
9. The prices were too high because they never developed the tech, they bought it. (Heck, the rocket drive alone is 999$) So to make a profit they had to charge high priced.
10. They were not innovative.
11. They had PR/Support that had a temper.
12. They (from what i've seen) said they were opening up shops to get people attention.
13. They were a ill organized and badly managed company.

This is from my research, and what i have seen. They are not a scam because the useres receieved a product.

#7- They are most certainly a scam if they dont deliver what you arrange to buy.

A purchase is a contract of sorts- you agree to pay a certain amount, for a certain item.

They switch or misrepresent the item- thats total scam.

If you bought a new ferrari at the dealership, (dont get excited snorre, I am making an analogy to the automobile itself) and the dealership agrees to deliver it to your home once your payment is settled- and you hear the feeble honk of a 2 door vw bus an hour later... is that a scam? Or "not as advertised?"

I would say scam. But thats my interpretation.

So the fact that they got people to buy their product, by false advertisement, and gained form it personaly, does not make them a fraud?

And in making them a fraud and fraudulent business, doesnt that make them scammers?

If he's done his own research and has a list of bad practices a mile long.. Why the heck is this even being discussed.. by his own list.. label them scammers or just misinformed business people. That list should be enough to make anyone take their money elsewhere..

Time after time the most intense arguments in these forums just turn out to be petty arguments over linguistics and over definitions. I hope that more people would realize that definitons are not debatable and one could define something however they see fit to further their argument. One just need to state it explicitly rather than assuming others share a common definition. Not stating definitions clear is, sadly, how most debates are started.

Personally not feeling very sad that Go-L's gone out of business. Racist, flaming comments from them on these boards didn't do much to endear me to their business practices. And while I enjoy a nicely done webpage as much as the next guy, when it goes to the point of looking as if it's not all true, then all for the better for consumers when the company goes out of business.

Just my 1/2 cent worth, anyway. I was rootin' for 'em in the beginning, but after their stellar performance here at notebookforums, all I have to say is, Good Riddance.

Look.... WHO CARES.

The only cool thing they ever had going for them were the cinematic displays, the 3, 4, 5 LCDs linked together. Mach 8 5.7 ghz my ass. That is all!
