well i must say nice!!!!!

If i could do it over again i'd prob get the WSXGA instead, but it's nice. The laptop is also freaking huge! I mean damn! It's HYUGE HUGE HUGE!

I'll post some pics of my screen, but yeah. It's torture reading at 96 dpi.

why do you say that?

I am inbetween getting a WUXGA or WSXGA right now.

just get the WSXGA
btw, have you tried doom yet, Xarthan?

UXGA tends to be too big (icons too small) for most people. Take a look in the FAQ for some pictures. If you look at the images of XGA vs. SXGA+ and then pretend there's a UXGA in there, too, the UXGA icons are even smaller than those in SXGA+, which, for many people, is too small.

yeah trust me, unless you really need the extra big space don't get the WUXGA. Plus how many times when your playing games are you going to be over 1280?

Currently my dpi has to set at 120, so unless you like to be in front of your screen by a distance of a foot, get the other.

Plus i do get light leakage.

I think i'm going to end up ebaying it. My 700m is just so much nicer.

I don't think i'd like toteing around the 8600 around school

i'll be mostly doing animation and modelling so i guess wuxga fits for me

I love wuxga, and screw all the people who say it's too small.

now that i'm playing more with it (set to 120 dpi) i think its okay.

I might keep it, unless i'm pressed for some money. It'll be great to take to lan parties.

No way I'd give up my WUXGA.

what dpi are you guys using on your wuxga?

I also got the WUXGA 2 days ago and I just can't seem to get the stuff normal sized so I don't have to be 2 inches in front of the screen to be able to read anything. thinking of maybe returning it and getting a WSXGA

Did it not get blurry or fuzzy for you once you changed the dpi to 120 Xarthan?

dpi and screen resolution are independent of one another. If he's running the native 1920x1200 it should not be blurry at all.

what DM said ^^ It's very clear!

Ok, thanks, i was just curious because even if i stay at my native resolution and switch the dpi to 120 things get fuzzy and distorted and i have the wxga.

The WUXGA screen is one of the main reasons I would buy from Dell again, it's amazing.

The WUXGA is not for normal use though, i mean come on for reading text you must have magnifying glass for eye balls! (lol :P)

I can totaly understand using wuxga for business/developing/editing/cad etc.. but for someone who will be surfing the net a majority of the time, palying games, using basic applications I just don;t see it being the best fit.

I mean you tell me that when reading text on wuxga, you can sit back 2 or 3 feet and not struggle to read it, at all????. Is it even healthy to read text so damn small? I would imagine you are causing some eye strain and that just can't be healthy.

In no way am I saying it is "bad," I am just saying it depends on what you are using your laptop for! If it is for basic use (downloading music, surfing net, email, microsoft office, games) then having a wuxga just seems pointless. wsxga+ provides so much screen space for webpages and the other applications/uses I mentioned, why go smaller?
