I have managed to beat previous overclock scores for the MR9800 256MB card. Here are some pics to show my scores (3DMark03 = 9394, 3DMark05 = 4418):

What are your settings in control panel? I just cant believe more pipe are working.

Well something is different now. I hard modded my card and i got 2800 before clocked @ 425/325 now with the same clocks i got 3267. My cpu is only a 2.8 and i had all my Norton's internet security on and anti virus. Thinking if i try i can get it up to around 3600 or so by shutting stuff down.

I'll mess around with it more tomarrow im tired.Maybe some more mem overclocking and a little cpu as well.

What drivers are you using? Getting your memory up to 400+ should give you a decent increase.

Thanks Stu,
I should probably retract my stock speed score. It is at stock speeds but not stock number of pipes.

I must be missing something here... I thought I'd see how well my system ran, so installed 3dMark06 yesterday.

I've got an Inspiron 9100 (A06 BIOS), 3Ghz, 9800/256Mb ATI card, 1Gb Ram, and 60Gb/7200RPM HDD... so nicely specced out.

I've been using the Dell-supplied ATI drivers (v8.162), with A01 BIOS upgrade for a long while, and when on the "Balanced" driver settings, managed a 3dMark06 score of "784" (SM2 = 381, CPU = 702). Tweaking these to all "high performance" increased it to 809 (394 / 708).

After reading these forums, I installed the latest Omega drivers (v 3.8.291), and again, tweaked everything to "high performance" and no VBI waiting... the scores went up to 867 (424 / 714).

I notice that in the 3dmark competition scores, the 9800 was getting scores well above 3000 with no overclocking... and yet I struggle to hit 900.

What am I missing?

Can't compare apples to oranges

You've got to look at what you are benchmarking. You noted that it was 3dmark 2006, which would drop your scores to sub 1000 for your rig.

If you ran 3dmark 2005, then your scores would be in the 3000 range.

I don't know if 05 is still available to download to see how it stacks up against the others. Good luck finding it.
