I'm not in this for the ranking, thus the lack of screen's...
As far as 128 MB users, I get a 3dMark05 of 1333. Most likely on track with other 128MB users.

oh are you sure sakor... my replacement just showed up and now I can bench both the 9700 and 9800 for a week... YAY!!!

My new 9800 upgraded specs...
1024 ram
3.0 Prescott
60g 5.4k w/16mb cache

The 9700..
512 ram
2.8 Prescott
60G 5.4 w/2mb cache.
catchme if ya can... oh and my new system is getting really close to the 05 o'c record (7993). Thats on the new system with no tweaking....

Cool! Then keep on a benching, may hold scores in both domains which is not a bad effort

c'mon someone please beat me... im getting bored.....

maybe i should start a service where users send me their HD and some $$$ and ill reinstall and tune the system and send back. (9100's only)
You could tell us 9700 users what we can do to improve scores. I've tuned a lot and found no difference in numbers. Maybe I missed something.
first you need to tell us what you have doneso far then we can help you improve

I went to TweakGuides.com and went through the majority of PC tweaks. Turning off file indexing, shutting down extra processes, etc. A few were either already configured or risked FUBAR'ing my BIOS for little benefit.

The only thing I haven't done is re-format the drive. Given I've got XP SP2 installed and a dial-up phone line, I don't want to take the HOURS to download that again.
just go onto microsoft's website and have them send you a cd with SP2 on it

Right on... Heres my system and score.

Inspiron 9100
3.0 Prescott
1GB DDR400
128mb mobility radeon 9700 (oc @ 550/290)
60gb 7200rpm
WSXGA+
3dMark 05 : 1432 baseline, 1609 oc

This is on the original Dell WinXP install (while running a few minor processes, MSN and the like if it matters).
The 550mhz core still isnt causing artifacts, so maybe I'll push it higher. Im happy with the scores though. Seems 290mhz is all I'm gonna get out of the memory though. This is all on the bone stock i9100.

Edit: And what kind of temps do most people get under high load? Im around 62CPU/55GPU/67DIMM by the looks of it.
In the stock I8Kfangui the DIMM and GPU numbers are backwards so actually your GPU is running at 67 degrees, search in the 9100 forum for fangui wish list. There you will find an updated exe file that hass all the correct readings. On 500/299 my GPU will go to around 71-72 and CPU will stay about 69 on full usage
post #72 of 178
Oh ok cool stuff. Got it fixed now, but still stuck at 290mhz for the memory. Maybe Ill do some testing later. I mainly use UT2004 to test stability.
3dmark03: 6583 with no oc and no tweaks and using dell original driver (which btw gets me a better score than omegas newest...?!?!?!).

Super pi 2m ---> 1:33 min
Hm, just posted a 4106 in 3dmark03, with the 128mb 9700 at 550/286. Had to drop the mem a few clocks, cause I figure running it at the limit isnt a great idea. Hopefully I can push it harder with some windows tweaking.
Managed 459 / 450 on the MR9800. 480/475 showed minor artifacts, so I backed it down a bit.

2k1: 19,334
2k3: 8,303
2k5: 3,545

Edit: Used Omega 2.5.90
WOW that's friggin fast ) maybe I should keep pushing mine a little
i'm only at 435 and 330 hehe

Hi,

I think I've got a probelem, I just got my new notebook a Compal 56 yesterday, with the following specifications:

Pentium M 1.4
1 GB RAM
Ati Mobility 9700 128 Mb
30 Gb @ 4200 rpm

The benchmarks aren't exactly great, compared to what I've seen here:

3dmark2001 : 9900
3dmark2003 : 3050
Aquamark3: 23000

This was done with the latest Omega drivers, here are the clockspeeds:

Memory: 202,5
Core: 391,5

I've seen a lot faster than this, is it due to the low clockspeeds of either the CPU or the GPU or is the slow HD the problem? What would you guys advise?
those are fairly low clock speeds for a 128MB 9700, my 64MB version has a stock mem speed of 264 i believe. The clock speeds on the video card are probably the biggest problem. Your CPU might keep the scores down a little but not that much. When benchmarking in 3DMark the Hard drive speed doesn't matter all it does is increase the scene load times. Which isn't calculated in the score.
Hi thanks for your reply,

I tried to overclock it with ATItool, with the Catalyst 4.10 driver/ omega equivalents, but it froze up. Can I just try your clockspeeds with Radlinker? Because I don't know how save it is or if it'll freeze again. What's the worst that could happen? I mean the MR9700 is designed to deal with higher clockspeeds than mine, right?
I believe it is. The only problem is that your laptop might not have the cooling capacity to handle it. Find a program that will work with your laptop to show the temps and so forth. Then you can determine how much overclocking you can do.
