Camera frame rate

I have puchased a M-tech...P4 3.2 Prescott
I gig ram 4200
60 gigHD 7200 rpm
Same laptop as the Sager 8790 with the glossy 1680 x1050 17" view and the ATI 9700 (256 meg)

Question?

When I run Frag and start up the built in camera, I only sustain a frame rate of between 6-8. I am running the latest drivers (I think) and usb2 with it.

My old external Logitech cam used to do 30 fps.

Any idea how to increase this to stop the choppiness when I video-conference?

My laptop idles at a steady 44 degrees with a room temp of 75 and the fan on auto slow. Full fps and cpu in a high res game takes it to an even 60 without doing the F-10.

Thanks, Bill

sorry but I think that's the best it can do. It's pretty amazing that they could make a camera of that size tho. The one on my 4750 got 8-10 fps according to fraps, it requires a lot of light, and the res is something like 360x240.

wait nvm, you're right 640x480 is the correct res. they all use the same camera. I'm still waiting to get mine back =(

My camera is also 640 x 480
There must be a better driver somewhere?
anyone know of one

It's not the driver, it's the physical/technical limitations of the tiny camera.
