ACER Aspire 1522WLMi - seems good

In my quest to find a cheap laptop with amd64 processor and good overall specs i found the aspire 1520 -series which looks very interesting. I also found a vendor here in italy (www.pcmobile.it) that sells it pretty cheap. There's also other vendors that sell it for a bit more but still under 1400e.
here's the specs:

ACER Aspire 1522WLMi
.AMD Athlon 64 3000 Plus
.512 MB DDR333
.HD 60 GB
.MASTERIZZATORE DVD-Dual
.GeForce FX Go5700 64 MB
.Wireless LAN - 56k V92 - 10/100 Mbps
.Schermo 15,4'' TFT WXGA 1280 x 800
.Windows XP Home Edition

dimensioni:
361 (W) x 292.5 (D) x 47.3 (H) mm;
3.6 kg.

€ 1320 iva incl. (the version with amd64 3400 is € 1408)

I haven't been able to find that much reviews or other info on it so if anyone has experiences/information/thoughts on it, please share. I'm very interested in this machine, the only gripe is the low-res display - I don't mind the weight. Also wondering if it's worth the extra 88e to get the amd64 3400 version, because if the bottleneck is elsewhere, can't see the difference much and there might be issues with more heat.

save your money and spend it on a better hdd, which is always the bottleneck.

I found a contestant in the cheap italian amd64 series:

ASUS® A2526KUH

Intel® Athlon64 3000+ (taken from www.nexths.it, pretty funny - it is the amd64 and not p4, i checked)
Memoria: Soddr 512Mb (Ddr 333 SDRam)
HDD: 60Gb UDMA100 2.5 (I think it's 5200rpm but could be also 4200rpm, not sure)
Schermo: 15” XGA TFT Risoluzione: 1024x768
Combo DVD/CDRW: Dvd-dual
Modem MODEM - PCI LAN 10/100/1000 on board (CTR21, JATE, FCC, DGT) - Wireless Lan 802.11g
VGA: ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 Pro con 64mb ddr
Dimensioni: 328 x 270 x 27/42 mm
Peso: 3,4Kg

€1.279,00 iva incl.

The specs and price are very similar to those of the Acer. The screen is even lower res, but the laptop's smaller and slightly lighter. Don't know about build quality, I assume both Asus and Acer are ok. What do you think of the gpu? Is radeon 9700pro 64mb much better than geforce fx go5700 64mb.

Any experiences with either of these laptops? Any suggestions?
I want to pick your brains!

I think the 60mb 5200rpm one will be enough for me for now. If it only affects loading times and the difference between 5200 and 7200 isn't as big as 4200 and 5200, I'll be happy with it. I've decided not to go over 3ghz cpu anyway. I'll buy a nice acoustic guitar with the money I save

I'm in luck today!

I found out that the vendor NextHS (for the Asus) has a store almost right next to my school, so I can just pick my lappy up for 1279e AND I get a two year on-site guarantee. Not bad at all. Currently favoring the Asus but not completely because of the screen. I like big screens and I like to save money - these two don't go well together..

BTW: Does anyone know how to change the thread name? I tried editing my first post headline, thinking it would do that, but it didn't work.

Has anyone seen these computers live? I'm afraid that the screens won't have good brightness or viewing angles at this price range. I'm also worried about the keyboards' quality.
