Is this drive capable of dual layer burning? I cannot find any solid information on this drive. Before I run out and buy dual layer blank DVDs would be nice know.

A LOT - like 11 bucks. I'd wait till the prices come down, but that might be awhile. If you are backing up your dvd's, use a program like "DVD Shrink" to get the dvd down to 4.35 gigs so it'll fit on a disk. I still don't see the benefit of a dual layer disk, which is 11 bucks each, when a single layer disk is 60 cents. (If you buy online) That's a 95 percent increase in price!

I agree with you northernwave, when i backup dvd movies I can make the whole movie fit and it looks good DVDX copy Plat.

Yeap just went to Best Buy and Frys and they are expensive. It isn't worth it just yet to buy the blanks. But I remember when the first DVD burners came out and it took less than 6 months before the price was where a poor pilot could buy a stack.

I also use DVD Shrink, best thing out there as far as I'm concerned, plus its free. Even better

Is anyone having problems running some DVDs? I can burn with no problems and but reading from some DVDs seems to fail. Problem with the Donnie Darko DVD and some data DVD I have from magazines. Any ideas, I dont see the drivers on AW site, nor on any of my CDs....

I noticed that dual-layer DVD-Writers seem to have problems with DVDs containing over 4GB of data. When writing over 4GB (say 4.1GB) it works fine but verification fails consistently close to the end of disk. And it cannot read 4.03GB data DVD recorded on a regular DVD-RW drive. Don't know if it's a problem with all dual-layer drives or just some. It's possible that there is a bug in firmware where they allocate 32 bit only for address/offset when reading.

Try to turn on verification and burn something like 4.1GB and see what happens during verification phase.

Well actually its a 1833% increase in price. But they still are too expensive for the time being.
