A friend wanted me to sign up to the iPod free thing, but I didnt. I really didnt feel like (or have the time to) find 5 people to sign up under me.

There is a neat little program called iPod agent that allows you to do SO much more with your iPod, like one-click synch your songs, transfer your Outlook mail, transfer your Outlook contacts, store weather forecasts and RSS feeds and local movie showtimes from the web and so much more. (http://www.ipodsoft.com/ipodagent.aspx)

I had a crappy Archos 10GB Jukebox back in I think 2002 and boy, that killed Archos name for me. It played music, poorly. It didnt have a high volume control, and it was overall just s***y so I returned it. I would say they have gotten better since then, but I still wouldnt want to get one.

Right now I am on the fence whether to get a 4Gen iPod or the iRiver H120 (a.k.a. iHP-120). I like the remote and recording ability on the H120 (great for lectures) but I REALLY like the iPod because of all the cool things you can do with it now (see iPodAgent).

do you pay money to get the free ipod? to have people sign up?

Well, you sign up to one of a bunch of offers, like a free 2 week trial of a Netflix Knockoff by Blockbuster. The most you'll ever charge is the $20 they will charge you if you forget to cancel it in 2 weeks.

I've got an ifp-190TC and it's great, but another company (i forget which) has pretty much the same thing except smaller. The iPOD Mini is a great balance of size vs size
