IF you go here:

http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE..._LaserPrinters

Sony states the aformentioned printer is a color laserjet printer.

After speakin to their live sales help, they confirmed it was color multiple times even after showing them this:

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...51-377934.html

I first saw that printer on Sonystyle, so I was goign to buy it, until a friend of mine mentioned it wasn't color. After lookin on the web, nowhere else does it state that it is color. But the idiocy at Sonystyle is making me question my common sense.

Can some one confirm that the printer on the Sony site is not color? I've been looking at it for a month or more, and I can't believe no one has noticed that mistake!

here is the online chat session I had with Sony customer service:

Chat Transcript - 10/17/2004 08:18 PM
me: can you confirm the product on this page:
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE..._LaserPrinters
.. is not a color laser printer
Glenn: The VS-Q2461A#ABA HP LaserJet 1012 printer is a color LaserJet
printer.

Glenn: The HP LaserJet 1012 series printer gives you that edge without
compromising the high quality.
me: is that the same product as :
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...51-377934.html
Glenn: The printer showcased at Sonystyle.com is a color printer.
me: Sony pays HP to make a special version of their printer?
me: because you realize the HP website clearly says its B&W
me: in fact HP charges $499 for their low end Color laser printer
Glenn: The VS-Q2461A#ABA HP LaserJet 1012 printer showcased online at
Sonystyle.com is a color LaserJet printer.
me: you cannot confirm that this is not the same LaserJet 1012
listed on HP's website?
Glenn: No, all I can confirm is the printer showcased at Sonystyle.com
is a color printer.
me: okay
me: disconnected
Glenn: disconnected

The 1012 is a black and white printer, we've used them here.

I don't like it at all, even for the stated purpose/price.

I have no idea why Sony would be so adamant it's color. Maybe buy one then push them to send you a real color laser printer as advertised. You won't get one, but it'd probably get the ad fixed.

Don't ever buy anything from Sony unless you have no other choice, they hace the worst customer service and don't care anything about the customers.

I emailed them about this, hopefully some one will listen to reason. Its unbeleivable they give these sales reps 0 hours of training. That must be the worst job ever!

Thanks for your replies.
