Hey all, I need to send in my NC6000 for minor repair but I was wondering what they do for warranty. Do you send it back to them, wait for them to repair it and then they ship it back to you? I use this laptop quite heavily, and I'm just wondering what kinda downtime I'm gonna get.

Use HP warranty inspector to find out your service levels:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...dTypeId=321957 (set to nc6000 in this link)

It's pretty hard to find, but it's a great resource:
HP -> Support & Drivers -> Search for nc6000 -> Self-help resources -> Warranty information -> Information for a single product

For example, my brother's nw8000 has a 2-day repair guarantee and pick-up and return by HP. I would expect nc6000 have something similar.

Here's my warranty, think it's the base warranty:

Service Level

Standard Office Hours, Standard Office Days , Next Available Technical Resource, Offsite , Committed Repair Time 2 Days Restoral , Pickup By HP , Delivery By HP

I guess it's the same as yours where they guarantee to fix it within 2 days? I also want to get an upgrade done, the screen to be exact. Do you think they'll do it for the extra $50 it originally costed? I like that extra screen space .

Warranty information doesn't hold if you request an upgrade. It's best to call their customer service and ask details.

Well everytime i've gotten service from HP.

They will send a prepaid box to your place and then you pack it up and they will overnight it to the repair depot, fix it up usually the next day and overnight it back to you.

I've always recieved excellent service from them and I love how they pay to ship both ways not like the normal way where you cover the shipping. If i sent it out on Monday i've always gotten it back by Wed or Thurs.

thanks for the response guys. I was just hoping I could upgrade to the 1400X1050 screen for the extra $50 they charged before cuz the regular 14" screen which is what I have sucks.

My battery recently began holding a minimal charge. I called up HP and told them my battery was on the fritz and they immediately sent me a NEW battery along with a return mailer. I'm assuming I got this service because the NC6000 is a "business class" notebook.

I too would like to upgrade my 14.1" XGA screen but how the "heck" can you upgrade it for only $50.00?
