Price drop...Did screen resolution drop also?

Hey all,

I want to purchase the 5690V and I just saw on sagernotebooks.com that the price dropped. But when I went into the configuration I think that the screen resolution was something like 20xx x 14xx ??? I could be wrong but I thought it was greater than 1600x1200 resolution. Can anyone clear this up?

I bought mine in May, it is 1600x1200. I believe it has always been that on the 5690 UXGA. The only other option was the lower res sxga at that time. Not sure about the prior 56xx machines.

Unless they are changing QXGA (2048 x 1536), it is still UXGA (1600 x 1200). I dont know of any notebooks that offer anything higher than a UXGA or WUXGA (1920 x 1200).

uh, not entirely sure what you are talking about. But i do know that the 5690 has two screens from which you can choose. They are the SXGA+ (1400*1050) and the UXGA (1600*1200) That is a very high resolution. You probably would not need any more than the UXGA screen for anything, though, who am I to judge you? Currently, that is the highest resolution that Laptop screens go. I think there a thread on this forum about QXGA (2048*1536) which is incredibly high, though I dont think that it has ever been implemented. I do believe there is a thing called QUXGA (3200*2400) but you wont be seeing screens with resolution like that for quite awhile in mainstream computing. You may be thinking of the np3790's widecreen which you can get with a WUXGA screen (1920*1200). However, because the 5690 has a 4:3 ratio screen and not a 16:10 ratio screen, the standard UXGA should be perfect for you

Good luck in your shopping!
