im on a 600m right now..

anywyas can we bring this topic back up for discussion since i'm getting mixed answers:

is there much of a difference between 1.5ghz and 1.6ghz besides clockspeed? some say the 1.6 uses less power and runs cooler... most other say there's only a difference in clock speed.

thanks.

i doubt if you spent $1300 total (taxes, shipping, etc) on a sager... you'd get a "way" better system.

As Dell reached their quota/target on various models, they removed them from the deal throughout the day. First to go was the 9100 (late this morning I think), 700M and 8600 at 3pm central, then 5160 and 600m at 5pm central.

When I first read about the coupon at 7am central this morning and started browsing Dell's site, they were getting hammered SO hard it was ridiculous. Add to that the posting frenzy over at hardforums.com and anandtech.com, and the number of people talking about ordering multiples for resale, it was pretty clear that the coupon was not going to last 12 hours, let alone 24.

For my part, I ordered a 700m with the 8x dual-layer DVD+R and the extended battery. After rebate and tax (boo!), it came to ~$1,040. Not one of the ultra-cheapie $800 lappies that people are buying, but has the bells and whistles I want. Tough to find a semi-ultralite at that price point no matter which brand you're going after...

It blows my mind how most people don't seem to get a fat warranty on their lappies. I guess I'm just way too rough with stuff. I ended up getting ext battery, wireless b/g, cdrw/dvd and a 3 year plus warranty that covers complete care and nights weekends, at home service. came out around 1164.00 after tax and shipping. Cancelled my order for my X50v though.

Someone posted a few pages back that they got an education discount on their order with the $750 coupon. And I know the coupon is dead now, I already placed an order for a 8600 during the day before that post :P I just wanted to see if I could save a bit more on it by somehow getting an education discount.

well i got my discount, not sure if it was educational though. 8% off. Just called and said I wanted the educational discount applied to the order and asked if it was ok. After some bargaining/begging, i got ~$83 back. I called 1800-915-3355
