thinkpad T40 AC adapter question

Thread Starter
I have a T40 and an 16V 4.5 A adapter for it (the original one). I also bought another adapter that has 16V 3.36 A... I used to charge the battery once. What i want to know if its healthy to use a lower amperage adapter for it. The old adapter has the cable interrupted and i have to hold it in a certain position in order to charge. Thank you

Personally, I don't *think* there is any problem with charging with the other adapter. I would worry more if the amperage was higher. Was this an offical IBM accessory?

You might want to post this to the T-series forums on thinkpads.com ....you may get a better answer there. It is an excellent resource for Thinkpad owners.

Hope this helps.
