Ok, this is a funky one here folks... and luckily I was at home on the laptop to catch this before it bruned down my laptop and/or house.
I've been a proud owner of a Sager8886 bought from PCTorque way back in August of 2002. The other day after plugging in the AC Adapter to start charging, the AC adapter started to spark and melt the casing on the wire close to the AC Adapter box. It happened inbetween the magnetic bulb thing and the Adapter's box....
Right between the magnet and the box:
to computer -----O--[====]== to wall socket.
seems to be a bad design, where heaver stress and torque (hehe) gets placed on the excessively short length wire between the magnetic bulb and the AC box. Here's a picture of what happened:

Note that the heat and burning bubbled up the plastic casing around the wires. Yuck!
I've babied my laptop for almost a year now since I've made my purchase last August, so I dunno if I wasn't careful enough with the AC Adapter or if it's just a bad design. No I haven't been swinging the AC Adapter around my head, it's recieved minimal travel, and there hasn't been any rabid animals or humans gnawing on the AC adapter.
So, the burning question is: Does the AC adapter fall under the warranty at all? I mean this thing could have burned down my house or laptop if I wasn't there to catch it. If so, how do I go about handling this? If not, *pout* should I buy another adapter that could burn down my house when recharging my laptop or should I try one of the other brands such as "hipower" ???
It's been a while since I've posted around here, but let me say I've had nothing but awesome things happen with my and my Sager8886 since I bought it. Adam, I'm glad you're still alive and kicking in the world of Sager sales! Hopefully I can get something worked out with my issues, since the laptop is going to be unable to use until I get a new power supply, since the batteries were drained when I plugged in the laptop to the AC Adapter right before it started smokin... I guess it's a good thing I'm going to be on tour most of this month with my band!
