5960 LCD dead

I have had my 5960 since July and I loved it. But just a few days ago when I went to boot it up the screen wass just black no bios nothing. I tried hooking up a vga monitor to the vga out port and I hit the monitor switch after it sounded like it was done booting up. Any one else had this problem? If so please respond.

Plug in the external monitor before you boot, turn it on and then turn on the laptop. See if you get any output on the screen. If it stays black, there may be a problem with the video card. If it shows up on the external and not the lcd screen, there may be a problem with the screen (my screen went black just recently -- I had a backlight failure -- but it would still work on an external monitor)

Well I know it is not a backlight because I have seen a lcd whose backlight is burned out. The external monitor does not work but I am thinking that is because I do not have that enabled in the video card config. But I do have s/video out enabled but I cannot get a hold of an s/video cable at the moment. I really hope it is not the video card and I do not see how it could be the video card because all of the fans work. Any other suggestions?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you connect monitor #2 before bootup, it should show boot up as a clone monitor.
Sorry, it sounds like RMA time

Yep, same issue here with my 5960. Display just turned black (Lappy is 4 months old ). I can see the Sager logo for 1 sec. and then all pitch dark. The DVI socket workes. I have hooked up my external display. Sager is not very helpfull with this issue. They take days before they answer my emails...
I don't think this can be solved without hardware repair...
