Asus M5N using 100% cpu

Thread Starter
I just got a barebone Asus M5N, and put a Pentium M 1.7 cpu in it. My problem is that it is using 100% cpu even with no programs running. It is also getting very hot. Anyone have any idea what my problem is? Thanks for any help.

Are you sure you have speedstep? Try downloading speedswitchXP. Do a google search for it and youll find it easily. It gives you greater control over the speed of the processor than that which is provided by speedswitch XP.

I really think tha the lack of speedstep is what is messing you up.

check the task manager, an svchost.exe could be the cause, turn it off and restart explorer.
