Does anyone know where I could get a replacement for the usb cable for the mp3 player? I seem to have misplaced my original...

Isn't it just a standard usb-miniusb cable? Not sure where you can get a little tiny one though. Why do you even need it? Just slot the unit into the 88xx and it it's connected.

Google this:

USB mini USB Cable

And it wil show a lot of places to purchase the cable.

Pyrobob: so I can connect it to other computers....
Is it a mini usb 4 pin or 5 pin? do the generic usb to mini usb cables have the little groove that the mp3 player does?

I would contact Sager and find out if you can purchase the part separately. The mini part that plugs into the MP3 is specific for that device. [ I'm basing this on the Card Reader that fits in the same slot. ] I have 4 devices that use the mini USB plugs and none of them are compatible with the other devices. Unlike the mini Firewire plugs (4 pin) are standard and mini USB plugs are not. If you get a part number, it might help. I can't find a part number on the plug and the Service Manual does not show it either.

Yeah, it looks like it's not a standard mini-usb cable. I just said that because the only other device I have that uses USB, also uses the same cable (my NetMD minidisc player). Maybe go to RadioShack and ask them if they have a cable. Though it'll be longer than you probably want.

EDIT:
And yes, you'll be able to connect it to other computers. Just make sure you get a cable that has one end that's normal and one end that fits the mp3 player.
