Did I fry my video card?

Hey guys,
I'm new to this, so please don't flame me. I was reading up on overclocking and I decided to overclock my GPU before messing around with my cpu. I followed all the basic rules and didn't up the core or memory more than 5 Mhz at a time. I boosted each all the way up until I started seeing artifacts in 3Dmark03, then went back down 5Mhz from there. It ran fine for about 30 mins playing Doom3 after that then I started getting artifacts again. I then decided to bring it down an additional 5Mhz, and the problem stayed. Thus I decided I better revert back to the default settings. Well, the artifacts are gone but my screen randomly blacks out and immediately comes back (Just like when you start to run a game) for no reason? I then decided to reinstall my video drivers and reset my bios, but things aren't looking so good. The black-outs aren't every 15 minutes now, just right after windows completely loads and whenever I close out the window after viewing the standard display options. Any info would be appreciated. I think I've already completely soured my interest of overclocking for good. Did I generally do something wrong, or is OCing generally this unstable? I've heard of many others with the same GPU whom overclocked it twice as much as I did mine.

Well, I went out and replaced my GPU today. So, is there any way you can damage your cpu/mobo by overclocking your video card alone? Just curious.

No. But it sounds like you did fry the video card.

I think i'd cry if I did that...or slap myself. And yeah, would be scared to ever do OC again.
