Ship Dates for $750 Purchases. - Page 7

Ice Cream

I am happy to report that "Dude, I got a Dell." I am typing from my 700m right now. It does seem smaller than i thought it would and the mouse click is a bit annoying. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase since it was virtually 50% off. I just hope hardware doesn't fail, thank God for complete care.

Recap:
Ordered at Oct 19th, 4am PST (i had my shopping cart ready to go. I just waited to submit the coupon code as soon as it opened)
Delievered in Texas on October 25th (It's been sitting in Houston since the 22nd, but UPS is closed on the weekends)
NOTE: There's no point in getting Next Day delivery if you are in Houston, Dallas, or Austin since they ship out of Mesquite, TX.

*Funny story, I skipped class to wait for the UPS man. He showed up while I was in the back yard and I didn't hear the doorbell. The next thing I know, I have a yellow slip on my door! I called UPS to find out what happened but they had no information. So I ran out to my car and drove around the neighborhood till I tracked him down 15 minutes later.

The UPS guy is like the ice cream man for adults

If so how?

Nope, it isn't available to us canuks, too bad.. I would've bought a XPS instead of the 8600 but oh well... still happy with the upgrades/deals they offered.

Okay so I still have my 700m saying In production. It's not even kitting yet. Is anyone else still stuck at in production?

My 9100 has been In Production since last week, with no change in status. My estimated ship date has stayed the same at 11/1. There are no entries in the Kitting, Build, Testing or Boxing section. If they run out of 9100s, maybe they'll send me an XPS instead.

Yup. I'm in the same boat.

I called 18004339014 to do a telephone order status thing and it told me it's in build stage, although that isn't reflected on the dell order status website.

Man, I've been speculating with lots of others that this is something Dell is trying to close the quarter with, which means they have to bill everything before the 31st of October. And since they don't bill until they ship, there may be hope for us poor sods yet.

Of course, this may just be my feeble attempt at optimism!!!

no speculation about it! I called a dell guy in Austin on the 19th and he said that the $750 deal was to move stuff before the quarter ended. He said everyone he knew that worked at dell even bought a laptop on that deal! So you are right that they need to ship before Sunday so they can invoice. It seems that they are doing a good job so far.... My 8600 was ordered around 10am CST on Tuesday and it shipped on Sunday!

Now if it would just show up in UPS tracking.....

Lol! Well I hope yours arrives sooner than later! Enjoy it. If what you say is true, next week may be thoroughly enjoyable for me as well, indeed!

A word on UPS Tracking because we use the same system they do (UPS' ninth largest customer etc..).

When you enter information into the ups system to print a label, the system now has you showing as "Billing Information Received". This simply means that the label has been printed/or package info has been entered into the ups system and this shipment is in the system. From this point, one has thirty days to cancel the shipment.

Here's the catch. Just because this has been entered into UPS' system, or just because a label has been printed, doesn't mean the item has been shipped.

SO when you go to track your package, keep in mind. If it's just billing info received, then it hasn't been picked up yet. When it's actually been dispatched, you'll know it from the tracking..."Package picked up bla bla...."

Sorry to be a bit of a downer, but I know you're eager and I hate it when companies just let customers flail in the wind like fish.

Cheers mate! I do hope you receive yours soon!

DREAMSMASHER! HOPEKILLER!

Sorry about that. I figure Dell may not let you know what's going on but since I know (at least this part), I'd inform.

Remember now, applies to me too

Mine's been "In Transit" on the purolator website for 4 days.. !!
Hmm, I received a shipping notification over the weekend, but when I log into my account at Dell, it still says "expected shipping date Oct 29th." which is more than a little whack.
What's going on?
How do I get a tracking number?
Well you could try using the community forums at Dell's website. There's an area for Customer Care and a sub section for Order Status. The Mod's are pretty good about at least responding, even if sometimes the answers may not be what one wants to hear.

Here's a link straight to the Order Status board.

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportfor...c_order_status

Hope this helps some.

Purolator's a Canadian Shipping organization I believe because we receive Purolator shipments everyday. I don't have much involvement with that so I wouldn't know how to advise you. Sorry mate.

Your package is in the UPS system and is on time with a scheduled delivery date of Oct 26, 2004

My 8600 will be here tomorrow!

bad news... nobody will be home to sign for it!!!!

I may see if I can leave work a little early....
cmarcho: same here. they said it would be delivered tomorrow. i will have a sign out of my door and ask the UPS guy to leave it in the apt leasing office
once i find it is delivered, i will run back home (i live 4 mins / 2 miles local away from work) and get the baby

cmarcho and Superfire...neither one of you guys are looking too good....I think taking a sick day would be the prudent thing to do...especially with it being Flu season and all!

(who would want to go back to work after getting their new baby!)

I would, but I work contract right now, and every hour costs $$$$!!!!

Wife will be home most of the day, but takes the kids to soccer at 5:00pm, so if it's not there by 4, I'm leaving work eary and coming home to cover while she's out. UPS Ground usually delivers after 5:00 in my neighborhood.

Even if I miss it, I'm covered.... UPS is only 5 miles from my house and they are open till 8pm. I've gone there after 7 before to get stuff I've missed.
