I order the 700m with 1.6g/30g HD/cdr-w dvd/1350/ 8-cell battery about an hr after the 750 coupon went into effect. The status says "boxing" stage for 3 days now. And Dell sent me this email?? WTF!!! How could there be a delay if they are already done bulding the laptop??? I'm sooo pissed!!! NO dancing bananas for me!!! %*&))&!!!!!!

I ordered my 700m about 2 hours after you did. The only difference in the configurations is that I opted for the dual-layer DVD+R instead of the DVD/CDRW combo drive. Last night, mine jumped from checkmarks at Order processing and Pre-production, to checkmarks at Kitting, Building, and Testing. My estimated ship date still says November 1.
Two things:
1. From reading here and other boards, it seems that the vast majority of purchasers opted for the combo drive rather than the more expensive DVD+R. Maybe that's the hold-up? They exhausted stock?
but...
2. If you've been at the "boxing" stage (conceivably *after* the kitting, building, and testing stages), your delay makes no sense at all. How can it be delayed AFTER it's already built and tested?
Bizarre.
