If anyone chooses to cancel their 700M, please don't. I can take over the order if you need me to.

My 700m is "In Production" on the website and "Build" on the phone. I ordered mine with a regular DVD-ROM since I'll most likely get an external DVD/RW. Ship date 11/10, Delivery date 11/15-17.

Received 700m yesterday and 8600 today.
For the 700m, I like a lot. Superb value for the money, esp at these prices
I will post a review.

everyone that ordered an 8600.... if you ordered it with the 1.5 Pentium M processor, what actually came in it?

Start > Run > MSInfo32
click ok

Mine says 1.5 on all the paperwork, but my computer and msinfo32 state a 1.6 is installed!

Exactly one week from order to doorstep! This thing is very nice. I love it!

I was at CompUSSR this evening buying a case for my 8600 and I took a glance at a few of their smaller laptops. First off I did notice that they had quite a few(at least 5) 17inch laptops. Anyway I looked at a Sony 14inch widescreen and a hp 13.3 widescreen. I also saw another sony that was 12inch regular. I really liked the look of the sony's and the hp. They felt very solid. My question is, how would you say a 700m stacks up against other small laptops? I know the monitor is very nice, I'm mainly wondering about the build quality compared to the others. Thanks.

I've been following ultraportables for a while, including Sony, Fujitsu, Asus, Uniwill and others. I think the 700M compares quite well to others of it's class. The only weak point is the low standard battery life, but you can get around that with the bigger battery (adding a bit of bulk). Otherwise it holds it's own.

Same thing here.. but I don't know how much longer I can wait!!!

Btw, FuSoYa, what are some of you 700m owners and owners to be plan to buy for a bag? I would like to know since this will be my first ultraportable.

My 700m moved into the boxing stage today, which makes me think that the email this morning saying that it wouldn't be shipped until around November 16th was not true.

Bloke,

My original estimated ship date was 10/27, and est deliv I think 11/01-11/03. Followed the order through production. Seemed like it sat "in production" for a couple of days, then all of a sudden, kitting to shipping, in like a day. Mine was shipped late on 10/24, the "ice cream truck" arrived at 3:15 this afternoon, 10/26. This is my 3rd Dell, and I continue to be amazed at the speed at which they can deliver product, especially with the big sales that have been going on. Spent a little time on it. So far so good.

But as to your original question, it actually arrived a few days early...

Hey, I just checked and mine's finally in Boxing! It just jumped from In Production through Kitting, Build and Testing in the last 12 hours.

Got mine right after my last midterm yesterday. I'm afraid I'd missed it because of the test. Arrived just in time :P

looks like you can sell those notebooks for maybe $1,100 including shipping because everyone's flooded the scene. gotta include paypal and ebay royalties, so that's maybe 40 bucks knocked off. i think the people who bought in bulk will get maybe $200 profit for each notebook?
