Peacok 2500+ M10 / A few benches

Hi Everybody

A few benches on M10 in my Peacok:

http://www.peacock-products.de/cms/peacock_3_214.php

3DM01SE 9450
3DM03 2850
UT 2003 1024 / 768 Fly 123, Bot 46

The M10 defaultspeeds on this Laptop are 339 / 239. I clocked it @ 350 / 250.

The games run much smoother than on my "old" 1800+ and M9. So I think it's definitly worth waiting for the M10!

cant get the core/ram any higher than that?

Try upping the core as high as it will go and keep the ram default setting

then slowly up the ram unless your scared your fry your chip which is highly unlikely

btw nice benchmarks

btw you sure have a pretty laptop congratulations

Pretty darn nice laptop for 1750 US bucks. Congrats - meanwhile the rest of us go back to smacking our heads against a wall waiting for the m10 to arrive here.

Interesting scores, and probably getting a few heads turned.

I for one expected the 9600 to score alot higher than that, especially considering the scores I got from my 5600go are pretty close...

On the other hand, my Toshiba runs all my games very well, so the 9600 should run them even better - although I would wonder if one would be drastically better than the other at running a so-called 'next-gen' game like Doom3... very close 3dmark2003 scores for both GPU's.

Detailed inspection does show that the Nvidia part has more transistors and consumes more power, therefore giving ATI the edge in 'efficiency' especially given the higher benchmark scores.

It will be interesting to see how well the M10/Pro performs, even more interesting will be the response on the DELL forums to these benchmarks [ I can just hear the 'my 4200go spanks 5600go/9600 with my 10k 3dmarks' remarks .. sigh ]

Actually I notice that the 9600 scores a full 1000 marks higher on 3dmark2003 .. thats a substanial lead. It seems for pixel-shading heavy work even the 9600 non-pro is going to kick some serious butt.

probably 500 points higher than the 5600go default clocked. I really do think the core can be clocked higher than 350. Perhaps up to 400+ which would set the 3dmark2001 scores around 10500 or more. The pro version should oc a lot nicer since the rams set for higher clock speeds 350mhz ect

Remember also that no 2 gpu samples are quite the same. Some will overclock slighty higher than others and then there are probably extrememly rare samples that will oc to the extreme.

BTW: Every OC tool I try to use for my S705 does not work - it shows the GPU/RAM speeds as 65Mhz/35Mhz .. and changing them does nothing.

I don't know if anyone has had success changing the speeds on the FX5600go, but I would love to try.

Also I still cannot get any driver other than the 43.36 to work.

About 2.5 h. Not too bad.

And the warranty included in that price is pretty awesome. 2 years incl at home pick up and return.

can you take a few pics? hows the screen?

Well, the screen is quite goode. I would say, that the contrast is not exactly as good as for example in dells ultrasharp displays, but the reaction time is quite impressive. Playing works fine without tearing (?)(how do i say this correctly in english...hmm.), better than on a friend's dell. I heard, that there are three diffrent screens delivered in this Notebook so the quality may vary a lot.

The M10 is placed at the left front side. So it's getting realy warm under the left hand when playing a littlebit longer - great in winter .

All in all it's of course not the ultimative highend Notebook, but in my opinion you get a realy good product for this price. And a lot of 3D power too.

I don't have a dicicam, so I can't shot any pics...
As soon as I clocke the core higher, I'll let you know
post #15 of 16
understandable if the left side gets real hot and you know its the video card then I can see why you might not want to oc it anymore. The higher/wider or should I say more room the video card has the more one should be able to oc

the more air there is to cool such a thing but very impressive numbers non the less for a damn cheap laptop

Well, the M10 is right under the PCMCIA slot. If it's empty the heating is a little less. To bad, there aren't any PCMCIA "Fancards" available to get the heat out of the System .

Maybe I'll try to build something like that
