CL56 and CSS

So all you CL56 owners out there...

Are you running Counter Strike:Source?
If so, how is your performance?

Me, I have a CL56 and I find that the performance isn't as good as I would expect. I am not using omega drivers, because when I did, I got the dreaded checker-effect. So I uninstalled them and used the latest drivers from my reseller.

So what do you say?

really,...

are you using omega drivers, or standard ati catalyst?
I get mad choppy when i have settings turned up. Maybe like 20fps, especially when there are lots of players on screen.

if you use 1400x1050 it can run exactly like crayz described, but need to turn down all the other settings in the video options.
Counter Strike is an ugly game anyways, I doubt you'll see that much of a difference when your main concern is aiming for someones head with an m4.

i use omega drivers, 2.5.67

btw, all video settins are on high, vsync disabled.

ok, you have a superlaptop

Crazy, I find that impossible to believe, I've got the same setup that you do, and if I bump the res from 800x600 Full detail to 1024x768, shit gets choppy as hell.

I was running at 1024x768(LCD), with all turned up, and it ran OK.
It runs much better at 1400x1050, with all turned down. Smooth as butta
I think that valve may have improved the code lately because it has been running much better than when I first played it.

So, everyone is using omega drivers???

I may give them a try again. Like I said earlier, I was gettin checker effect, which is unacceptable. If anyone has suggestions on that, please reply.

yeah with the 4.10 beta based omega drivers, CS:S will display weird artifacts and checkering at 1400x1050 with everything at max (besides AA) on a Cl56. Probably a driver issue.
its technically "playable" but ugly and not smooth. I get around 12-24fps with those settings. No way will a MR9700 play that at a constant 40+ fps.

best balance so far I've found is 1400x1050 with everything pretty much at low. CS was never a really great looking game to begin with and face it, thats not what the game is about, even at the highest settings, the game looks like crap.
