Help, boot up problem!

After disabling msmsgs in MSCONFIG on my friend's tablet PC, after the Windows loading screen, it goes black, and the hard drive doesn't move.

put it back to Normal Bootup, and now... it boots up but only after a long wait time when booting up in safe mode.

Any ideas?!

Win XP?
Tap the spacebar after POST to restore Last Known Good Configuration...
If that doesn't work, boot to xp cd, run recovery console, and restore registry from repair folder.
