Typing Screwed Up

Whenever I'm typing sometimes the curser will just jump to some other spot on the screen. Anyone ever had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix.

Also, watch the 'nub' in the middle of the keyboard when you type. I used to accidentally hit it while I was typing sometimes untill I disabled it.

hmm, the touchpad? nope, it can't be that. the touchpad moves the cursor, doesn't make the cursor active in another part of the screen.

I have the same issue. I'll be typing this message (in FFox), and suddenly the cursor is gone and my typing has vanished. the mouse's cursor is still inside this window, so the pad didn't do it. it's like i hit some odd combo of keys and it jumps away. like a shortcut. and it ususally happens when i'm typing real fast, which isn't often since I'm not 'that' good a typer.

but now i'm thinking, does it ever do it at times I'm not typing messages here? hmmmmmmm

If you have the touchpad set to respond to a "double tap" it can act like a left mouse click, thus the behavior. You can disable this in the touchpad/mouse properties.

if you're theory held, then when I also stated the mouse cursor is "Inside" this part of the screen, so if it were due to a doubletap, the text would simply show up elsewhere. But you'll notice I said the typing vanishes.

The only place I've found any of it is on a login prompt on another FF tab. That still freaks me out. and it's usually only a word or a few letters, not the entirety of what I was typing, nor just the end.

I would guess it's a FF issue, but maybe not. haven't figured it out enough as yet

I wasn't trying to explain your anomaly, only the original posters.

That said, I'm not sure that I fully understand exactly what's going on in your case. If it only happens in certain apps like you mentioned then I would tend to think software glitch, but I don't want to speculate as I said I'm not sure I understand whats happening.

How do I switch the little pointer in the middle of the keyboard off. When I type it just goes to another place in the screen and I start typing where Ive already typed so I get messed up. If it is the pointer I don't know how to mess with its settings.

Same thing happens to me. Occasionally when writing an essay I'll look up to see myself typing on the end of a random sentence. The only thng I can think of is that I hit the pad. One good tap on it is the same as clicking the mouse.

actually i dont think that it is the nub. it think we are hitting the left click button under the space bar. i use my left thumb for space bar, so it makes sense that that is what im doing.

i agree that this is really annoying, but i cant figure out how to disable those buttons.
