High contrat/gloss screens

I've been checking in-store the Sony, Toshiba and HP lappies with the high contrast screens. They do look very good, but the rest of the computers are kind of below par.

So I'm wondering who else makes lappies with high contrast/high gloss screens like the XBrite and BrightView?

Thanks

Steve

Fujitsu, Sager...

Dell, IBM, I think AW's sentia has a glossy screen. Fujitsu has several notebooks with glossy screens.

Fujitsu Siemens Crystal View lcd screens are some of the best you could find. One laptop that is comparable to your Asus is the Amilo M 1420 which looks very much like a Mitac 8050 so I would guess Mitac is the ODM FS used for this lappy.
The Acer Aspire 2020 series has also a very nice screen - not glossy but very very bright.
EDIT:
Also Sager's screens are very nice, as mentioned.

Thanks, keep 'em coming. I'm not after glossy per se, it's the high contrast as well.

If you like the new glossy screens (as I do) just find the notebook that has all of the other features that you want on it.
If it comes with the new enchanced glossy screen.. GREAT, you're done.
If not, you can always add it later with NuShield http://www.nushield.com

It's not that expensive and has the same effect.

Here's a couple of topics with pictures of the NuShield

Do these NuShields actually improve contrast, ie better blacks, or just protect the scree?

I am not after glossy at all, and what I can tell you from my limited experience is this:

The best high contrast "non-glossy" screens that I have seen are all 15.4" or larger WXGA panels. They have much better contrast and much better viewing angles than any 12", 14.1" or 15" screen that I have seen.

The 15.4" and 17" WXGA's also look better than any smaller "non-glossy" widescreen (14", 13.3") that I have seen.

I saw a HP ZT3000 screen that was really awesome, with a fantastic display, and it was NOT a Briteview. It was a standard WXGA panel.

One of the reasons appears to be that the 15.4" and 17" widescreens are backlit differently than the standard aspect ratio 14.1"/15" screens. They also appear to be made with generally a newer, better technology.

Anyhow, that's the best that I can figure it.

You can make the argument that the glossy ones all have higher contrast, depth of color, black levels, etc. but every glossy screen I have seen bothers my eyes with the glare from room lighting.

Check the other topics that I posted the links to.
Here's a few quotes (one of them is from you Steve )

All in all this is a nice product, and I would recommend it. There is no distortion in the LCD image. It looks like a solid glossy lcd screen. The only gripe I have is the glare/reflections that can be distracting.
