Help with IBM T series numbering...

I've been looking at the T42p, and I think it's the the notebook of my dreams, what has gotten me wondering is the numbering they use: 2373...2379. And what's up with the DYU, B66, L14 stuff they use. Is there somewhere in their website where these classifications are explained? I think that the greater the number the more stuff the notebook has, but i'd like to make an informed decision before ordering it.

Any help or guidance is appreciated.

I'm not sure about the numbering scheme myself either. But if you go over to IBM's website and pop in the 4 digit number and 3 letters it will tell you the exact hardware configuration of that model. I think the first 4 digits are generally the same for each model, the 3 letters will designate the different configurations you can get.

The first four numbers refer to a model: 2373 is for "standard" models, 2379 is for "express" models of the 14.1" T42 I believe. The letters/numbers following the model indicate the specific configuration.

Hope this helps.

Ok, i found the answer to my original question.

In the IBM website you have to download the "tabook.pdf" file

IBM.com > Products & Services > Notebooks > Literature > (a little more than half-way down is the tabook.pdf file)

The 2373-Q2U T42P Thinkpad is awesome, too bad it costs 4000+ US dlls.

Actually the 2373-Q2U () has a ATI FireGL GPU. Excellent for engineering/3D modelling stuff, not so good for gaming. There are some models that carry the 9600, but not this one.
