Can I boot off and install windows from the second bay CD drive on my 5670?

Ok, so here is the problem. The ATAPI connector that connects my CD drive to my motherboard broke off and the only way to fix it is to buy a new motherboard for $550. since I do not really have this much noney right now, I was just going to let the main bay cd drive be dead and just by a new one for my second bay, but I need to know if I can boot off the CD drive in the second bay and if I can reinstall windows from it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Look at the available boot devices in BIOS. If the 2nd ODD is listed, then you should be able to boot from it. Ometimes the device has an asterich or + (Plus) in front of to indicate that there and multiple devices available and you must expand the selection to see them.
