ARGH! Shinza!

I came home today to see that FedEx is charging me $12 for shipping my shinza sleeve through customs. Why wasn't this factored into the cost that Shinza charged me for shipping?!

What is this charge? I've had many items delivered from the states, but just for ordering my sleeve, I'm being charged a third of what I paid for the item!

Can Shinza do anything about this? I'm disatisfied with the sleeve itself, I'm disatisfied with Shinza's customer service, and I'm disatisfied with the fact that it took weeks for shinza to ship the item out after I placed the order.

It has nothing to do with FEDEX.

Shinza must have filled out some import form with FEDEX authorizing FEDEX to charge the import duty to the final recipient (you).

I would be on the phone to my credit card company within minutes, and would have a charge reversal in the works within an hour.

This is total and complete BS. I don't know why anyone would want to do business with Shinza.

As for colossus' sig of "FedExSux", perhaps you had a problem with a shipment.
It happens.
FEDEX, IMHO is the best carrier in the business, hands down.
(no, I don't have any ties whatsoever to FEDEX)

Fed Ex is definitely better than UPS.

my company has had problems with both at times
however we've had much more trouble resolving issues with fedex
your mileage may differ

USPS > FedEx > UPS

how is fedex charging you money? You mean shinza is charging you? Or did shinza give your cc info to fedex?

Not much you can do, if you return it, you probly won't get refunded for shipping, including the extra $12. Yes FedEx does suck. But its usually better than UPS. Unless you use Fedex ground which is the worst :/ Just pray when you get something shipped!

it sounds like you're paying duties/custom taxes to your country. Just like when you ship an item out of the USA to Canada. The person getting the item has to pay taxes on it.

do they make a 14.1 shinza case?
as far as I know they only have 12 and 15 inch sleeves but the 15inch ones are two sizes: medium (I think this will be fine for a 14inch lappy) and large - fits 15.4 widescreen laptops.

Yes, that's it. This has not occured for the other packages I was sent through the mail from other companies, however.

I find it ridiculous that I had to pay almost $25 for shipping a lightweight sleeve. If Shinza had shipped the item when I had ordered it via USPS, I would have received it before FedEx, at probably 1/4th of the shipping cost (if even).

Sorry man, that sounds like you got a really cruddy deal. Shinza should have known about any other charges and told you about them.

zlatanov, do you think your shinza was worth getting? How does your laptop fit? Is there space on any sides? How is the shoreline one also? Not to turn this into a review thread, but i was just wondering...

I think you're issue should be with your country's import laws, not with fedex or shinza. As for horror stories, they all have them. UPS, Fedex, DHL, USPS, if you listen to internet stories you'll be too terrified to ship anything anywhere. If you ship something expensive make sure it's insurured, pack it in front of them, take pictures, have witnesses, whatever....Otherwise, put the package in your trunk and get ready for a road trip

I think if the item is less than $20 usd or sent as a "gift", then you don't have to pay duties.

why didn't they send it when you used usps?...i'm about to buy one and was leaning toward usps for shipping (to canada)....should i not?

From what I remember it has to be a gift below $50 to avoid import tax. When im in Canada I always have to make sure folks know this. I receaved a few items from ebay when I was in BC two summers ago and got charged 30% of what I payed for the items in tax.

maybe its because the custom workers in canada are on strike. or is that already over?
