There is also a new bios version that supposedly fixes the video playback problem. I had to email sager to get it, why they don't put it up on the website I don't know. If anyone wants it let me know.

MoeRL:
1) i really don't know why the notebook manufacters don't care about the drivers... my wlan is really better with this v9 driver for example!
2) the only thing that occurs to me is a mailing list for the 3790 and similar users! the other way around is to visit this thread, and contribute to it

I am REAAAAAAALLY confused on the LAN driver. This is what my device manager says:

and THIS is what the official tech specs say for the NP3790:

What now? 8139CL? Or 8169/8110!?

Video - Either go with the DNA posted above, or install the 4.12 ATI Betas. The latter is what I've done and it works flawlessly.

Are you KIDDING!? And you don't POST about that!? Hellooooooooooooooooo..? Please, PLEASE make a post about that. If other people are even close to as conerned about keeping their notebooks up to date in all possible aspects, a lot of people will appreciate a thread about a new BIOS version!

Well I just got it from them and haven't had a chance to test the video issue yet. I didn't want to hype it until I could confirm it fixed the problem. Feel free to pm me with your email and I'd be happy to send it to you.

It's Barney!! Hahaha.. damn it. I uploaded it in the dev/null section of dslreports.com and they don't allow hotlinking apparently. I'll try to fix it later, I'm really, really busy resetting my system up right now.

I asked Sager directly, and a representative replied about the LAN card confusion, and it really IS the 8169/8110 .

And John.. I'll PM you. Where did you get it from anyway?

thanks for all the recent update

I'm really confused about the chipset. I know it's an Intel 855PM in our NP3790's. Now, if you go here, http://tinyurl.com/3kdpy, you will find that there is a "newer" INF Update utility for the chipset. I'm pretty sure it's newer than the one supplied on Sager's Driver disk..

Wlan driver

Hey, all, I tried the v9 driver for my wlan card (I have a 3790) and it did not work...would not recognize the card. So stick with anything under 9, so far...

Pacaya: to me the v9 wlan driver solved some problems, it connects A LOT faster on places where it would be usual to get limited conectivity... do you have the 2200bg?

ps: i installed the driver only, because i don't use the intel wireless management utility. have you tried that?

MoeRL: i'll look at it when i can! the latest version can be found here ->http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scri...?ProductID=939<- and it's the 6.2.1.1001 of 7/26/2004

I do have the 2200bg, and I never thought of just updating the driver. Thanks. It was the management program that gave me a headache - would not recognize my card - but on the other hand I just use the XP manager because it works best with my AirPort Express (which is boss, by the way).

And can someone please PM me the new 3790 BIOS?

Thanks,

P
