Updated - 30/12/2004

The DNA 3.5.4.12 & DNA 3.5.4.12-LITE are out at http://www.dna-drivers.nl/viewtopic.php?t=4608
The Radeon Omega Drivers 2.5.97a are also out at http://www.omegadrivers.net/ati/win2k_xp.php and it seems that they've fixed some wide resolutions issues (the reason that made me swap them for the dna release)

All based on the official Catalyst 4.12 ATI drivers

Any improvements noticed with the new 3790 Bios? Feel free to send it to my gmail address if you think the Bios is stable and worth it. Just click my sig name below.
Thanks!

I'm surprised you guys haven't gone straight to the manufacturer's site.
For instance the Intel 802.11b/g 2200bg card's drivers should be at intel's site and be the most up to date.

Also, what type of bios does the laptop have? AMI? Award? Phenix? and who produces the mobo? Go straight to the manufacturer and get the updates.

Also, from my experience, Windows wireless manager sucks being that it is not specificly designed for that network card, just a universal manager. I'd put the Intel wireless manager to work and I bet you'll see even more improvement in you signal and less problems.

hmm?? have you seen the first page? the links are to manufacturer's site... intel, realtek and so on...

as for the motherboard, it's a KAPOK Intel 852/855GM with a SystemSoft bios

Thank you TMGP, I needed that after 3 hours of capture the flag in battlefield 1942 dc. Going to check for bios links...

I'm getting used to the video playback issue but sometimes makes me sick... so...
Can anybody of the owners of a 3790 ask Sager for the BIOS and upload it here (I can host the BIOS if you want, I don't use more than 10 % of my webhosting bandwidth ). I would have asked Sager for the BIOS but they ask for a serial number and... I don't know if the Clevo's serial number that I have will pass

EDIT: I have updated the BIOS with the one John have sent me, and tonight I'll be testing the video playbakc issue; wether it solves the issue or not, I'll be hosting the BIOS file. I don't have a Sager, I have a Clevo M37EW (where I live, the brand name is Hundyx); and I haven't had any problem, although the update tool is made by KAPOK, the manufacter of the board, so I think there will be no problems updating any Clevo, Sager, whatever if they are the same laptop

Good news: Got an email back from sager...The response was quick, less than 24 hrs. It may be because I included my serial number and notebook model number. So, I also have the Bios Zip File. I haven't had time yet to burn a CD and flash the Bios. More after the update...
cool, looking forward to the update

Here you have the BIOS Update 2.07

Well, tonight I tested the video playback issue and I think they have solved this problem; even the one I had with my wireless card (Intel 2200BG); because with driver's version after the first one (8.0.12.2) I experienced a lot of troubles (the wireless data rates were going up and down all the time, and I even had some disconnections...); and my AP/Router is a Linksys WRT54G which works very well because it has been tested with some other laptops and routers so I had to make a mix with the drivers... (if anybody wants to know how, I'll be very proud to tell how I did it, but only if need it )

¡¡¡WARNING!!! ¡¡¡WARNING!!! ¡¡¡WARNING!!! ¡¡¡WARNING!!! ¡¡¡WARNING!!!
I'm not responsible if you break your laptop, this BIOS is intended to be used on a Sager 3790 laptop although I have tested it in my Hundyx (Clevo) M37EW with no problems.
If you think you're not sure what to do, please... DON'T DO IT.

Anyway, here's the link for the BIOS update (it will update to version 2.07): http://www.torrentlinux.com/M37EW/379bv207.zip

Instructions:
1. Download HERE
2. Extract the file: 379bv207.iso (there's only one... so it's easy ).
3. Burn 379bv207.iso to a CDRW (if you want you can burn to a CDR but I think it's a waste of money...). Anyway, it's up to you
4. Use the disc to boot your laptop and follow screen's instructions

PS: Derepente, Could you send me the file they sent you to make sure we have the same file, please? Mail: mranonym{I.hate.spam}@gmail.com Thanks in advance
post #35 of 245
As a friend of mine would say, "Just for GP" (general purposes), I wanted to post that I also used a rewritable disc to accomplish this task...except that what I had handy was a DVDRW. Tell your favorite "burning" software, I used Nero6, to burn an image, and select the iso file. Its that simple. Sager puts a windows98 dos on the disc. Remember to have the boot sequence start with CD in the Bios. You'll get a message that "booting from floppy drive" is about to happen...that's where you want to be. Kind of startled me but then I'm still new to this Notebook. I'll post 3DMark scores later. Bottom Line: bios flash on 3790v was easy.
Also - already sent the file to MrAnonym for comparison.

cool thanks for all the guidance guys. I successfully installed the BIOS update and all the driver updates. however I am not sure I properly installed the LAN driver updates. 4 files downloaded, but I didn't notice any actual installation. could anyone explain what to do with the 4 files that download when one clicks on the link at the realtek site for the 6.20 driver? The 4 files are NetrtOEM (security catalog), NetrtOEM (setup info -- which doesn't tell you what to do to install as far as I can tell from reading it), Rtlnic.sys, and Rtlnicxp.sys.

4 files and a driver update - Realtek NIC

erisalit32 - I am guessing you downloaded the windows xp set without the auto installer. I did the same. You will need to get to the update drivers tab in device manager. Forgive me if this is too much info, but: Right click "my computer" (either on the desktop or in the start menu), click the hardware tab, click device manager button...
If you have working drivers already, then double click network adapters and right click the lan card listed (not wireless) and update the drivers. You should get the option to browse to the directory/folder where you downloaded those files.
If you don't have a working NIC or lan card, you'll want to right click the network adapter which has the yellow exclamation point. Update its drivers in the same way.
Restart the notebook.
Hope this helps, and again, forgive me if this is more info than you wanted or totally off the mark. You may have already tried this and it didn't work. In this case, I would uninstall the network adapter, let windowsxp find it after restart. Install drivers manually and have it go to the download folder or directory where those 4 files are stored.
Good luck

thanks so much. I am glad for the step by step. that will help ensure I don't screw it up. your step by step in the other posts was very helpful also. I will report back after successful install of the lan drivers. this thread is wonderful!

3790 Bios 2.07

Hi, I have made the comparison between the Derepente's file and John's file and there are no differences (I made a bit comparison between both ISO's); so 2.07 is the latest BIOS ver. and the file I'm hosting is OK

BTW, I have deeply tested the video playback issue and I think they haven't solved... although I ask somebody else to test this thing because I may be seeing ghosts...

I'm going to add the bios link at the first page... If there is some kind of problem please let me know MrAnonym

Another think... i've posted this on the np3790 section, but it would be good if someone could test this card reader driver as it fixes the 1gb capacity problem (my card reader as never worked, so i can't test it) -> http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/fi...oad/22147.html
