It looked so awful before I thought surely that's not the right driver. Apparently it is. I'm gonna retrofit that sucker with a new 2 mega-pixel camera. Got one right here...
That would be fun to see - the retrofit. I tried before with HP cams and it never quite works out right

Take some pics along the way and share, would ya?

Will do... Just need the right cable. Ugh. I don't want to take it apart. It's a virgin. No tool marks at all.

Oh! I should have mentioned... On the camera don't run the install. Just unzip the folder, then tell Windows to update the driver in that folder.

Same thing with the Card-reader driver: ftp://ftp.clevo.com.tw/M37EW/PCMCIA/M37EW_PCMCIA.zip.

That gets rid of the Base System missing driver. The WPD thing is my PNY attache. Still looking into it.

You might keep this machine after all with so much time invested into it so far.

Na, I don't want to keep it long enough to see it scratched... Anybody know of a short list of SSDs off the top of their head? I want one with properties such as fast, reliable and cheap in that order. Needs to be ATA/100 or ATA/66. Don't know a whole lot about them. There's so much garbage out there on the net about them I don't know what to believe.

Intel X-25M or OCZ - we use them at work and you can find some for good prices.

cheers ...
