Asus M6BNe and Motherboard Monitor

Are there any Asus M6BNe owners using Motheboard Monitor? Can you even use Motherboard Monitor with this notebook? Anybody have any idea?

Yes, I got it to work - go to the TEMPERATURES option/menu on the LEFT when you open MBM5. You will see a drop-down menu with Sensor 1, Sensor 2, etc. Below yu will nave another drop-down menu with options of local and remote sensors (also custom and none are the other options) that you can associate with ani of the Sensors from the forst menu. The "local" sensor is for the HD temps and the "remote" is for CPU temps. Set all these with APPLY on your bottom left and you all set.
All in all, MBM5 does work with the M6BNe.

EDIT: The Temperatures option/menu is on the LEFT not right. I am sure you will find it by yourself but just in case.

My CPU TEMP IS READING 72c and HD 54c could this be right?
these temps are a bit too high. There are two sensors to choose from local (HD) and remote (CPU). Are you sure you have done the associations correctly?
Also I just ran MobileMeter along with MBM5 and it seems that MBM5 DOES read the correct cpu temps but the HD temps are a bit off compared to what MobileMeter and Asus Probe2 detect.
HD temps right now are 40C and cpu temps are 52-54C according to MobileMeter and Asus Probe.

right now i have sensor 1 hd local and sensor 2 cpu remote and the temps are 74c cpu and 58c hd and that's with cpuidle extreme that's supposed to cool down the cpu

these temps are too high. Run MobileMeter or/and Asus Probe for the correct ones.
I am not sure what the problem is - MBM5 seems to read my CPU temps correctly, the HD temps are a bit off but only by 5-6C.
Maybe you are running something in the background that intereferes with MBM5. I have ZoneAlarm, Kaspersky Antivirus, speedswitchXP, FreeRAM XP Pro, SpyBot, and SafeGuard running along with MBM5 but they don't seem to interfere with it.

Well 1st of all i appreceiate all your help I downloaded mobile meter and those temps are 70c cpu and 47c hd

your cpu temps are a bit too high - should be around 50 (under light load) after hours of operation and reach high 60s and 70 when under very heavy load. Have you built the Asus from barebone? I am thinking of possible bad contact between cpu core and the heatsink - bad thermal paste, improper application, etc. Also, try opening your notebook and check the heatsink - it might be full of dirt and thus unable to cool down the cpu properly. My cpu is 1.7 Dothan but your 1.8 Dothan should have the same temps.

This is my very first notebook so i have absolutely no experience using them. I do know that 70c seems very high. Is it normal for the fan to suddenly speed up ? i can feel more air being pushed out and it get's louder for a few seconds.

i'm getting 46C surfing the web, downloading, sun java console running, & listening to mp3's, fan at 3000rpm. i get 72C when on max perf playing CS.

each notebook has a slightly different thermal policy...
on max perf (CPU is at 1.5 GHz constantly) my CPU runs at temps of 69-75 even when idle... my fan comes on at 75 degrees.

I wouldn't worry about those temperatures... your CPU won't overheat.

Is your notebook Asus M6Bne? I agree that each Dothan lappy will give dif temps but only as long as they are from dif manufacturers or/and dif models from same manufacturer. Plus we aren't speaking of a dif of a couple of degrees but 20C in cpu and 10+ in HD temps which is A LOT.
Also even if he bought his Asus from Canada, Asus has the same laptop for both the Canadian and US market i.e. the North American Market. These laptops come to North America as preassembled barebones and lack only cpu, HD, RAM, Wi-Fi. It is not normal to have such temps on Asus M6BNe unless there is something wrong with the thermal paste, the heatsink is clogged with dirt, or his fan isn't working properly.
Furthermore, even if Dothan has upper limit of running temps ~100C, this generated heat is detrimental to all the other components and RAM modules above all.
Again, these temps aren't normal for M6BNe and are even less healthy for the laptop as a whole.

I own the M6Ne (non widescreen) notebook...
I suppose it depends on the production date of each notebook... perhaps certain batches of these barebone notebooks have different thermal policies... or their thermal sensors are more sensitive than others.

I just know for sure that my fan doesn't come on until I reach 75 degrees...

Again, these temps are not normal for M6N - B or no B, it doesn't matter much. These temps are way too high for any laptop, let alone a Dothan one, and are slowly killing your other components.
My advice is to have it checked. You can do it by yourself if you don't wanna send it in for service. I can give you Asus M6N assembly manuals and you can check for dirty heatsink or improperly applied thermal compound. If it is neither of these two, I would call Asus support ASAP.

EDIT: and this is post # 666 for me

That's just the thing; I've e-mailed ASUS and they said it's normal.
ASUS support is never really of any help...

I was thinking about opening up my laptop, but then I might void some warranty...

hmmm, can we ask where you got this notebook?

let me guess they told you that the laptop has an integrated defence vs getting too hot and it will shut off when this happens. I wouldn't rely on any of this BS.
But yeah, just like Kronus, I would like to know where did you get this laptop from?
Send me a Private Message if you want those assembly manuals.

I purchased my notebook from a local store, here in Vancouver BC...here's the website if you're interested

There seems to be quite the DISCREPANCY between the HD temps of MobileMeter and MotherBoaed Monitor MOBILE 46C and MM 57C
The cpu temps are the same around 72C IDLE!! When i did a spybot scan the cpu ran upto 82C!!!! Something is not right here
