Great. Did you send it in for service to the laptop reseller you got it from or an Asus Service Center?

i'm using 0205 i don't have the notebook right now it's coming later on today but that's the one i installed. It seems the 0205 is the latest bios Ver for the M6BNE do you have your speedtep enabled?
If you enable Speedstep and set it to "Maximum performance", it will keep your cpu fan on at all times...when you have it set to auto...it doesn't turn on all the time.

I have 0203 on my notebook and my fan is on 100% of the time.
Princeofpersia,

I enable the SpeedStep to Maximum Performance, and get the same temps, and my fan only starts at 85 C. So, in not resolve my problem...
Rotel,

Did your fan not start up on boot?

my idle temps w/ 0203 are anywhere from 47-55C

princiofpersia,

I set-it up as Maximum Performance on bios and my fan not start-up on boot, only when it reaches 85C.

- The laptop is connect via AC Power without Battery
- I set-up on BIOS - Speedstep as Maximum Performance
- On windows, i run Probe and see that my fan is stop all the time, and only start at 85C running at 1700 Mhz and 75C when running at 600Mhz.

Rotel,

Try to fully Disable Speedstep and see. your fan should start up sooner, but let your laptop cool down first.

OK guys got the notebook back. The techie changed the motherboard and now reading some better temps not great but better. 55C-62C just surfing and 72C playing far cry. I'm using the 0205 bios with speedstep DISABLED. When enabled the fan just didn't seem to turn on as often as when it was disabled for some reason. Anyway 55-62c is better than 70-80c right?
OK. Now try enabling Speedstep to AUTOMATIC and then download speedstepXP and set it to Dynamic Switching MODE even when on AC - this will allow dynamic trottling even when you are plugged in, with no lag at all, and will bring the temps 4-5C down.

Great Tip zlatanov
Downloaded SpeedSwitchXP and set AC to Dynamic Switching and set speedstep in bios(0205) to automatic. After Surfing for about 20mins i got Temps between 49C -54C and that's with my Vantec Lapcool 2 set on low. After running 3dmark2003 without the lapcool turned on so i could hear if the notebook fan would turn on which it did i got temps of 70C-74C (I CAN LIVE WITH THAT)

I do, all you mentioned here guys..and this is my history...

SpeedStep set to Automatic and Speedswitch set to Dinamic Swicth on AC
My temps are at 600 Mhz, 69-75 C and 83 to 90 C when running at 1700, playing games i get 90 C and sometimes 92 C

Setting SpeedStep as Maximum Permormance and Speedswith Speedswitch set to Dinamic Swict on AC my temps are the same

Setting SpeedStep Disable mode and Speedswith set to Dinamic Swicth on AC, thee same temps...

All that i fugure is that my SpeedStep is not running at all...Can it be a drivers problem, maybe the acpi drivers or something
im running WinXp with SP2

Guys, are u running the same OS and version?

Rotel,

i'm running XP pro sp1.The only thing that seemed to help me was i had the motherboard changed. I Then bought the Vantec Lapcool 2 notebook cooler, set speedstep in bios to automatic, set speedswitch xp to dynamic switching on AC and now i'm getting much better temps. 48C-52C surfing and anywhere from 70c-75c gaming. If you can, just return it and get the motherboard replaced.

Hi SergesPlace,

First of all, thank you very much for your reply, you said that your motherboard was changed? Oh God, it's bad news for me...
Sending back the laptop cost me $250 US, and i have no time for this, because i'm in Caracas - Venezuela (South America), i bought it, few weeks ago, when i trip to USA, on january i will trip to Lisbon-Portugal, i will stay there for a year.
I contact Asus Support and they said me that may be the FAN have some problem.
I test all you describe here and my temps are still the same
On idle mode at 1700mhz my temps running between 80 and 90 C the Fan start at 90 C, when i run at 600 Mhz my temps run at 75 and 80 C... and fan start at 80 C and turn off at 70 C.
I will start my searching finding a new fan, and change it, to see if it resolve the problem...But it is anothe dilema...

I've got a similar problem, I just got a M6Ne about two weeks ago, today I decided to see how it does in prime95. With speedstep on auto and 205 bios I get up to 90C before the fan kicks into full speed (4000rpm acording to asus probe), but it seems when its around 85-89c it turns on and off sporadically to 3000rpm which is pretty much inaudible. Anyway I'd love to run lower temps but if the cpu is ok up to 100c then im not super concerned. And for the comments about the heat burning up stuff around it earlier that totally untrue, the core can heat up and cool down by up to 30c within a few seconds, theres no way that much heat is actually radiating out onto nearby components, so I don't think we should worry too much. (Except maybe if its burning your lap!!)
