Sager 4760 review

This will be added to throughout the day with benchmarks, and pics. I thought I'd start off with some DVD playback and game pics for everyone wondering if the full screen would be filled or there would be black lines:

As you can see the movie IceAge above and the movie Jurassic Park III bellow both fit the screen with a 1.85:1 widescreen aspect ratio. All I had to do is set the WinDVD option for "Pan and Scan".

But how to games look? Does DirectX fill the screen with gameplay? You bet! Here's Planetside running a normal 1024X768 and it fills the full screen. We were running 32Bit with settings on med/high and getting 30FPS running around the sanct. This was running the default drivers that come with the system and default card settings.

So, we will continue to run some benches and take pics by request and add to this post throughout today so keep watching if you're interested.

Here's a couple of angle view shots:

Any slight blur in any of the pictures is from the camera trying to pick up the movement and not using a flash. There is no ghosting that I have noticed at all on this LCD.

The angle viewing isn't insane like the wide angle view 5670 was, but it's still one of the better ones I've seen on a laptop.

The speakers sound great. Anyone that has asked the question of how good the 5670 or 8887 speakers are will know I say they're average laptop speakers... Well, these do sound good and are probably the best laptop speakers I've ever heard. I haven't listened to any that are known for great sound so I can't give a good comparison, but these sound really good for a laptop. Still a laptop though and the sub will resonate other parts if cranked.

Other than the pics in the NEWS section, I thought I'd share a few more here...

We were very impressed with the LCD and feel currently it's the best looking LCD Sager offers. For the CAD guys out there and graphics guys that want to run really small text it's not for you, but gaming and DVD playback it looked really good. We didn't notice any ghosting at all and the angle views are excellent!

The keyboard layout is great too, notice the normal enter key =) It's a full size keyboard that makes the switch from desktop to laptop easy.

The layout in these 2 pics shows it's very similar to the 4060 which also uses the SIS chipset. Check out the subwoofer in the lower left hand corner of the pic above (also has a 4 speaker system). It sounded pretty good with the expected vides from the sub when turned up a bit.

Below you see the 4400mah battery with 4 screws to remove just like the 4060 (same battery it appears).

It scored barely under 7000 in 3DMARK01 and between 1000 and 1100 in 3dmark03.
The rest of the scores were hanging right with the 4060 which is higher in RAM scores and right on par with CPU scores with the 5670 and 8887 even though they use the SIS chipset. Yes, HT is enabled.

Of course it has the video camera as does the 4060 which is a nice feature.

This is not a full review, it's just a quicky for everyone wanting some more info and pics on it. We'll break it down more and in better detail when they're released and begin shipping.
