I'd give my firstborn for a $750 coupon on this baby

Looks like some nice new quicksnaps are gonna be available for it too, from the site:

Natural Leather QuickSnap™ Cover
Carbon Fiber QuickSnap™ Cover
Cherrywood QuickSnap™ Cover
Mediterranean Blue QuickSnap™ Cover
Black Lacquer QuickSnap™ Cover

Pity they will not fit on existing models, haven't seen any pics of them yet but a couple sound intriguing.

BTW, have merged another thread into this one to save clutter, it all fits chronologically so no hassle I hope.

Looks like the price of memory has come down... at least right now it's better than it was when I ordered.

And more USB ports!

I thought everyone debated that there would not be a 17" Pentinum-M based from Dell and that it would be a P-4. Hmmmm...

Anyways, I think it's a great purchase, even with Centrino-2 around the corner. I'd rather get this machine now and get a greater package in the sub-notebook or tablet market with the newer features.

I also noticed the wuxga option in addition to the wxga+ screen offered on the dell site.

I wonder if they will stick the the alviso/sonoma in this model when it comes out. Keep the same chasis and screen????

I take back my WUXGA critcism, but now moan that it isn't an Xbrite type screen .

In all seriousness, the Sony A190 is cheaper for a similar spec and has a much better screen.

Its too bad the MR9800 can not be used on it. Whats with the lack of an eraserhead? TouchPads are horrible.

If only they would give us an i8600 (in terms of size/power) with better graphics options....or even a 600m. Bleh. This thing is a monster. I wonder what its batter life is.
Who said it didn't have DVI? The specs and pictures tells the opposite.
Why no wsxga+ screen?
no wsxga = pass
what do u think the batter life is gonna be on one of these
post #95 of 131
i may have to pick one of these up...i run my 19" monitor at 1024x768, so even the wxga+ screen is fine for me. don't know if i can wait a month though...especially if another deal comes along.

You would think so, but one of the nice things about Dell is they give you a lof of options, so I am surprised to not see a WSXGA.

At first I thought the XGA only option was to differentiate between Dell's other offering, however now that they have a WUXGA I don't know why they wouldn't offer a WSXGA...

The canadian version only comes with a 128MB ATI's™ Mobility Radeon™ 9200 - What up with that? And when you click on the "Help Me choose" link it shows you the 9100 video card choices...website quality control issues at dell today?

Here is a review from pcmag that gives it a batterymark score of 5 hours. I wonder what the real life usage will be.
