Hp 1040us?

I am very much considering the HP Pavillion 1040US notebook.

Here is a page on it.

What I am looking for is a lightweight alternative to my current Toshiba Satellite Desktop Replacement.

I don't run many games but use Photoshop quite a bit. Will the shared video memory be sufficient for me?

How do you guys like the widescreen format? Watching DVDs is not a main issue.

Is the performance adequate? The BrightView screen looks promising. Are there any drawbacks to this system I am not seeing? The price at $1299 seems right to me.

My chief need is to run many apps at once. Dreamweaver, Video Editing, IE etc..

Widescreen format is great, as it is easier on the eyes (eyes by nature see in a form of widescreen ).

If you are going to want to do those kinds of things be sure to get an ample amount of ram... 1GB.

Same

I'm in the same trouble as ericsport.... HP DV1000, Compaq V2000...

I'm NEVER going to play games, but I'm going to use photoshop and many other programs for editing photos and videos...

Will the integrated intel GM video card be a bad idea????, or will I get same results as using any Ati radeon for this kind of software!!!!

Thanks

You definetely wont see the same results... as the ATI will always be better. The editing of videos would greatly benefit from a real gpu and not intel's integrated solution.

I don't think so. Photoshop and video editing are pure 2D, while ATI's cards are geared towards 3D. You don't gain very much anything from ATI cards, except the ability to use an external monitor as an extra display. Anything related to 3D, such as rendering performance, is useless.

I'll usually edit 1 video a year, and my photoshop working is about web programming... low resolution images...

Maybe I'll not get any extra benefits with ATI cards...

When you refer to an external display... you're talking about dualview, isnt it?

Well then I stand corrected. Just make sure you do have the ample amount of ram I mentioned earlier though.
