What is the difference in the sony "S" Series

I am looking everywhere in trying to decide which notebook to buy. At the end the answer was sony S series. now, everywhere i look I see, "s150, s260, and s270". For some reason with all the configuration being the same ( HD Size, speed, memory, etc) The newer ne came out cheaper. See for yourself at sonystyle.com. My question is what is the technical difference beween the 3? Having all the same configuation is there something new on the newer version interms of actual physical alteration or internal workings? I'm pretty sure they are just designations by Sony for preset configurations. Some you might be able to add more, some not.
