could you recommend me any 14" SXGA notebook, usable for games, programming, etc? I don't want IBM. Thanks.

Cheers!

The geforce in the Tecra is somewhat outdated... but it should still handle some games nicely.

nc6000 XGA
Tecra M2 XGA
Travelmate XGA
(official web specifications)

I need SXGA! I do really like Asus M3N, but it has a crap graphics....

Nc6000 is really good for games and traveling. While not quite as fast as heavier computers, it is virtually unsurpasable except for the Sony S series which is a 13 inch WXGA.

There's also the Dell Inspiron 600m / Latitude D600.

Probably the cheapest of the lot.

Sony Z series all have 14.1 inch SXGA+ screens.

The NC6000 and M2 can come with sxga+ screens...

If you want a cheap sxga+ notebook you might want to look at an old Compaq Evo N600C or N610C (it's actually lighter than the NC6000).

The Panasonic Y2, if you can afford it, is probably the coolest--3.3 lbs, sxga+, dvd-r (on the imported models; cd-rw/dvd on the domestic models)

Kind of silly that you don't want an IBM, since the T series is obviously the best 14" sxga+ notebook around. You can get an old sxga+ t23 for relatively little.

The two models of nc6000 I listed are SXGA+ or can be configured to SXGA+. For example, DJ258A is NOT XGA but SXGA+.

Oh sorry, the problem is, that these sites are not very "visitor-friendly" to find some informations. But I am still unable to find anything about M2 with SXGA. nc6000 is too heavy. I would prefer notebook up to 2.5kg.

That compaq looks quite nice...

Actually, I would like to buy IBM, but it is too expensive... I am gonna have look at that T23.

T23, I miss touchpad, I don't like that "clitoris".

Take a look at the new HP DV1000 and Compaq V2000, with 1280x768 screen resolution...

It's got Intel Extreme Graphics 2. Not good for gaming. The resolution is also a bit too low for serious programming.

Compaq EVO 620c is quite nice, but the graphic card and battery life is not so good.

I am really afraid, I will have to look for 15" sxga, because, there is not any laptop 14" which I would like...

Which one could you recommend me? - as small as possible, as light as possible....
