Rubber feet

Man I do not know how I did it...(well actually I do but I don't want to say) But I lost one of the little rubber feet from the bottom of my lappy. Anyone know were I could get one? They look like they just glue on.

The feet on the bottom of the 88xx series are pretty unique, so I'd call Sager. When I broke my F1 key, they send me a spare for free. I'm sure they'll send you a replacement 'foot'. Just specify front or back.

Yep, when the back feet popped off my 8890, I called Sager and they sent out a new pair for me. I had them send the front feet, since I wanted to lower the profile of the system some; I didn't like the system tilt and the backs stuck out too far and where gouging into my legs.

Hal, did that cause any noticable heat increase when using it on a flat surface? I thought about completely taking off the feet for the same reasons, but cooling would be horrible.

Nah, that's what I was worried about too. Using the short feet on the back balances the system out and gives it (in my opinion) a better angle for typing, while still maintaining a good cenimeter or so gap for air-flow. I havn't noticed an increase in heat thus far, and I've been running her pretty much constantly since last April.

Note that I have put arctic silver on the heatsink and use Henrik's fan app when running heat-intensive programs. As it stands, she sits in her 40s most of the time, down to 27-32 when idle with the Henrik's on. If I run anything that would push her up to 55, I cut the fans on max, so she stays pretty healthy.

I wonder if Sager will ship me some feet over to England...

Oh Bob, forgot to mention: aside from the heat issues you mention, taking all the feet off of the laptop permenantly won't work, since there's that little plastic tab near the fans that juts out farther than anything else on the bottom. Without feet, you'll have that thing protruding out, unbalancing your system and damaging whatever it's sitting on.

Yeah, thanks Hal. I did realise that when I was considering doing it. Went to Radio Shack and got some teeny little feet that *JUST* raised it enough to clear the fan 'tab'. My aim was to get it as close to my cooler because at the time, I had one of those passive heatpipe ones. I thought the closer I got the bottom of the 8890 to the cooler, the better it'd work. In the end I gave it to my girlfriend and got an Antec.

Thanks for the reply's...I just sent a email to Sager asking for a pair to replace them. My lappy is out of warranty so I hope they will do it.

I will let ya all know!
