EDITED:

That's why I was confused. I didn't know this Uniwill model would come on non-widescreen versions (the cyberpower pic is not, but the uniwill's is).

It looks very similar to all of the Asus M6NE pictures that I've seen, but the Asus doesn't carry a 256MB Radeon. I really want to know about this computer, it looks like exactly what I want.

After just comparing the one that Uniwill 259IA offers, I am almost positive that it is the same machine as the Cyberpower s4. I assume that the picture that Cyberpower has on their site is just a little bit distorted. The pic on the main page doesnt match the pic in the page for the detailed view of the S4-3000 either so I wouldnt put too much stock in the pictures except to notice that they both apparently feature a scroll type function on their touchpads on the right. As for the specs of the 2 machines, they, including resolutions of the LCDs, seem to be identical. The Cyberpower machine says that the graphics card is a 256MB 9700 pro where as the uniwill site lists theirs as just a 256MB 9700. I personally don't know as much about current graphics cards as I used to. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

just disconsider the pictures, as beeing only illustrative.

The S4-3000 is not a AOpen anymore. I guess it's a Mitac 8050 but I'm not so sure about that. It also has now a 256 MB GFX card.
Actually, it is a Uniwill now. It has 256MB video ram to that ATI baby. The design is very nice, not sure about quality since Cyberpower seems to be the only one who is offering this particular model.

For information on which ODMs make laptops for which major vendors (Dell, HP, etc.), see this table and this listing by ODM. Please note that these relationships change over time as new models come out, old models are retired and contracts are renegotiated.

After further examination of the table I linked to above, I have determined that it is a good start but not entirely accurate. For example, to the best of my knowledge, the ODM list for Dell is correct. However, I know from browsing FCC submissions that Uniwill makes several laptops for Fujitsu yet Uniwill is not listed as an ODM. Also, Gateway/Emachines has started selling some Arima laptops under the Gateway brand and not just the Emachines brand. Wistron produces some laptop models for Acer and in the recent past made at least one laptop model for Gateway.

Nice links!

Nice list, DDDa and Shadowground. . . I'm researching my first lappie (loving that ASUS M6BNE!) and that info is very helpful.

I just reworked it in Excel, using the Autofilter to allow you to list all laptops that meet a criteria or group of criteria for comparison. (I didn't change any of the info, just the interface.) Makes narrowing the list down quick and painless.

Y'all can PM me if you want a copy. . .

New upload

I already have it (since yesterday), formatted, done with credits . Also with smaller letters

edit: I've put the new Uniwill from rjtech, but if anyone can see it and put more notebooks, like the now old 9860, great.

edit: the new file is on the second post, 1st page. Thanks, VBAjedi.

Good job all

Great job indeed - just doing research on ODM - this is the best resource I have been able to find so far.

Thanks so much

is there going to be a new version with the sonoma and pci-e laptops?
Maybe once more ODM releases their Sonoma. Right now, all we know is AOPEN 1558, Asus Z71A/V and I believe MSI 510C

Uniwill, Mitac, and Compal have not released theirs yet.

Hello everyone,

Since my college is drawing, on the last months, all the time I have (and also the one I don't have), I would like if someone could assume this project. It's very, very outdated now and I hope I can see it updated soon! Download the file, update and post it here

I'm still visiting nbf, but don't have time to answer, let alone get into "fierce discussions"
